I was just wondering, has anyone tried Pop (Soda, Coke, etc) with real cane sugar, not that High Fructose Corn Syrup stuff? I've heard about it, and I've always heard that you can get it imported from Mexico or other countries. I've also heard it's available around Jewish Holidays like Passover, because corn products aren't considered Kosher. (I don't quite understand Jewish eating law, myself, that's just what I've heard.
I've always wanted to try it, especially Dr. Pepper, because I heard it's much, much better than the stuff with HFCS. I'm sure a lot of the older board members know what I'm talking about, because I hear that they switched the sugar for HFCS in the late 70's/early 80's.
I just had some Goose Island Orange Cream Soda, made with sugar, that I found at Aldi's. It was incredible; better than any orange soda I remember since I was a kid. Swear, it tasted just like one of those Orange Creamsicles. A&W made some kind of "Floats" that were combined Root Beer or Orange with cream...Those weren't half as good as this.
I know there are a couple of bottling plants that make Dr. Pepper with the cane sugar, but it's hard to find out of limited distribution area. The most famous is probably the Dublin plant in Dublin, Texas.

They do do mail order, I'm just wondering if anyone has tried that. I'm also curious if anyone knows anyplace to get that or any other pop made with pure cane sugar in the Chicago Area, most notably the Indiana side of the border, especially the Calumet Region.
Also, is there a particular pop or "Soda" or "Coke" as some people call it that you like best?
Me, I like Dr. Pepper, Canada Dry Ginger Ale, and Sprite/7UP. Cream Soda is good, as is some brands of Orange...I also like Arizona Iced Green Tea, and this company called Bolthouse Farms makes this tasty soy vanilla chai and other fruit smoothies and lemonade that's delicious.
