Of Kings and Shadows - CSI:NY

I wrote a poem some time ago for English class. And I was at that moment thinking of CSI:NY. And for some reason, I had just watched Taxi... so, if you have ever seen "Consequences", "Some Buried Bones", and/or any Taxi Cab Killer episodes, you might understand this poem. Or if you have ever heard or seen Reed Garrett... but I pretty much laid out every episode he is in. Except for Sweet 16... there. That's all of them.

But, this is more centered around his whole time on the show. Even though I'd like to think it has more to do with "Some Buried Bones". No reference to Taxi Cab Killer though... You can decide for yourself though what you think it centers around more.

Of Kings and Shadows

He stands atop the highest building in the city
Looking down, seeing how far it is down, down below
He is deciding if he should jump
All was lost
He’d gone through so much
Yet nothing could heal his broken heart
One day it was following his supposed mother
It all fell apart when he was found out
She had died a few years before
When the Twin Towers fell
He had never met her
But she was always in his mind
12 years old when he had dreamed to meet her
18 years old when it crashed
He met his mother’s husband
They were not connected
But they were connected
By one person who no longer ceased to exist
The days passed until his friend is dead
And it hurts even more for him
What’s worse is when he gets beat up
Just because of a story
But it keeps hurting… the ache growing and growing
There is no closure
There is no grave
He can’t say anything to her
She never was found
He can’t find his way in life
It’s all so…confusing
Of all that had gone on,
Of all that had been said,
Of what was to come,
One person kept him on his feet
Mac Taylor was his name
But it never ended there
Time kept going
Until he is standing
Standing on the tallest building
In New York City
Contemplating between life or death
But he can’t choose either
Maybe life is worth living,
Even after all he had been thrown in life
He steps away from the edge of the building
Trembling
Scared
But something new is within him

This was good. I like the title too. I can see Reed having these kinds of thoughts too. The poor kid looks a little lost sometimes. It's a good thing Mac is in his life or who knows what would happen to him...
