CSI Files
Captain
Last week, the cast of CSI: New York sat down with David Giammarco, host of eTalk Daily on CTV, to reveal how their fans are reacting to their new roles.
Melina Kanakaredes (Stella Bonasera) used to touch people's hearts with her sentimental show Providence. But nowadays, her character's impudent aggressiveness is leaving little room for warmth. "It's a little funny, because people used to come up to me and hug me," Kanakaredes said. "And now there's a little more of like, 'so, that's a cool show you do.'"
Fans of Eddie Cahill may be friendlier than Kanakaredes's, but perhaps it's due to the actors last television series. But the actor still has a hard time getting recognized. "I had one woman at the movies the other day stop me and be like, 'God, you really look like that guy from Friends.' I said, you know, I am," he laughed. "'No, you're not. But you look like him.' She just wouldn't believe it."
While Kanakaredes and Cahill deal with their eccentric fans, actress Vanessa Ferlito revealed she has a bit of a problem maintaining her cool in front of her celebrity paragon, Gary Sinise (Mac Taylor). "He has a very soothing voice," Ferlito said. "Sometimes, like yesterday, we were shooting this scene together, and I was staring at him and I always forget my lines and he goes, 'You're so captivated by me.' [...] Because he just has... it just flows. It just flows out of his mouth."
But front man Gary Sinise, with years of experience under his belt, already knows how to deal with his fans. In fact, the name of his band was inspired by his fans quirks. "I do a lot of stuff for the troops. I visit our troops all around the world and all around the country, and play for them with my band. And wherever I go the troops are always calling me Lieutenant Dan, so I just went ahead and named the ban the Lt. Dan Band," the actor revealed. "You know, I figured why fight it? Embrace it, it's a wonderful character."
