'Miami' Cast Turn Up The Heat On 'Early Show'

The CBS Early Show caught up with the CSI: Miami cast members yesterday to find out what it's like to work on such a "hot" television series.

Emily Procter (Calleigh Duquesne) told reporter Rene Syler she was shocked by the heat when she returned from hiatus to film location scenes for season two in Florida, according to a report at CBS News. "I was at the beach in North Carolina, and I thought I was prepared for my return to Florida. And then I realized that if North Carolina is a B plus on the scale for humidity and temperature, then Miami is like an A plus, plus extra credit because it's just hot."

One cast member who didn't need to acclimatise was David Caruso (Horatio Caine). "I am a Florida resident, so I don't mind the heat. I'd rather be here than in the cold."

In keeping with the "hot" theme for the segment, the Early Show also caught up with Adam Rodriguez (Eric Delko) to ask him about life as "one of TV's hottest leading men". "Every time I hear somebody say it, I actually feel kind of silly," Rodriguez said. "Not a bad thing to be."

There may even be a romance sizzling between two characters this season. Sofia Milos, who plays Detective Yelina Salas, said the relationship between her character and Horatio Caine will be heating up over the course of the year. "I think that's definitely what the audience is inviting us to do more of. And that's the idea. We're definitely going in that direction."

The complete article can be found here at CBS News. Thanks to Carol for this!

It seems this segment was taped during the filming of episode 2. It is important to note, I think, that viewer reaction may be setting in with regard to Horatio and Yelina and her comments about the audiance "inviting" H/Y, and TPTB 'going in that direction' may be out of date.

Canadian TV guide this week features a cover profile of CSI and CSI Miami. Here is part of the excerpt about CSI Miami, per reporter Brenda Hampton of Canadian TV Guide:

"In Miami's first season, viewers learned more about Caruso's character, Horatio Caine, than they know about many characters on the Vegas CSI - Caine's cop brother, rumored to have been corrupt, committed suicide; he feels responsibility towards his nephew and sister in law, Det. Yelina Salas (played by Sofia Milos, now a permanent cast member). In fact, there seemed to be romantic tension between Caine and Salas, although any sparks were put out because of negative viewer reaction."

My thinking is, the last episode they had in the can before this article came out was, perhaps, Grand Prix (episode 7 of Season 2). This article leads me to believe that the H/Y scenario may cool off later in the season due to viewer negativity.
