'MIA/NYC - NONSTOP' To Launch Big Apple CSI

CSI Files

Captain
When a girl returns home from a big night out to find her parents murdered, the search for the killer will take Horatio Caine all the way to New York City.

Sources today revealed new plot details for the twenty-third episode of CSI: Miami's second season, which will act as a backdoor pilot for the spin-off series, CSI: New York. Entitled "MIA/NYC - NONSTOP" (the title comes from the killer's ticket stub), the episode will introduce the key New York characters, including Gary Sinise and Melina Kanakaredes as Big Apple CSIs Rick Calucci and Stella Bonasera.

The story starts, as it usually does, with a murder. Or in this case, two murders. Laura Spelman, only 15, is out partying at a warehouse turned underage nightclub when she realises it's past her curfew. But on this occasion, Mr. and Mrs. Spelman aren't pacing the living room waiting for their girl to come home. In fact, the house is dark when Laura gets back. As she climbs the stairs, she is confronted by a horrifying sight — her dad, lying in his own blood. Distraught, she runs through the house looking for her mother. Mrs. Spelman is in the study, sitting in a chair. Laura cautiously approaches and touches her mother's head, which promptly falls right off!

Horatio and his team are on the case. At the scene they find a small piece of laminated floor mat from the suspect's car. A rental car, as it turns out, hired from Sunstar Rental at Miami International Airport. When Horatio pays the company a visit, the attendant checks up to see if anyone returned their car on the night of the murder. There was only one: Nick Murdoch. It seems Mr. Murdoch flew out of Miami on an early morning shuttle. Destination: New York, nonstop.

Up in the Big Apple, CSI Rick Calucci is called out to investigate the shooting ofa police officer. A certain Nick Murdoch, as it turns out. And he's been dead for 48 hours, according to the medical examiner. Horatio Caine arrives in New York to find his chief suspect couldn't have murdered the Spelmans, because he was already dead. The real killer, who murdered Nick Murdoch then used the cop's ID to get to Miami, is still on the loose. He soon claims another pair of victims — Michael Hanover, a wealthy hotel owner, and his wife.

It's now up to CSIs Calucci and Caine to find the link between the Miami and New York murders and catch the killer. It's a tough ask, but they've got one advantage over their suspect: the evidence never lies.

Please note that the above plot details have not been confirmed by CBS, Alliance Atlantis or Bruckheimer Films, and until such time you should treat this information as you would any other rumour. The above information comes from an early draft of the script and details may change before the episode goes to air.
