Greg opened his eyes slowly because the brightness in the room hurt them. They have been closed a very long time. He looked around and found he was in a hospital room but he could not recall why he was there. He heard the door creak open and turned to see Nick entering the room, Nick had a shocked expression on his face and Greg wondered why that was. He made his way over to the bed and took Greg's hand, he had tears rolling down his cheeks.

“My God G, your awake! It's been so long, we didn't think you'd ever wake up.” Nick said, his voice cracking with emotion.

“What happened Nick? Why am I in the hospital?” Greg asked looking confused and a bit scared.

“The DNA lab exploded.” Nick explained. “That's why your here.” He reached out to caress Greg's cheek.

“What!?” Greg asked, still confused. “But that happened years ago! Why am I here now?”

“Greg, you've been here ever since the lab exploded, in a coma for over three years.” Nick informed him.

“No way!” Greg protested. “That's not possible! My life has gone on Nick. I'm a CSI now...right?” Greg sat straight up in bed and grabbed Nick's shirt. “Please tell me your messing with me!” Please Nicky!”

“Sorry Greggo, your life for the past three years has been spent right here in this bed. The life you believe has gone on has just been a fantasy created by your mind while you were comatose. The Doctors warned me this might happen.” Nick said calmly, trying to calm Greg as well because this news is quite a shock to him. Nick felt bad for Greg.

“This just can't be happening.” Greg shook his head in disbelief.

“I know its hard for you to accept G, but its true, I would never lie to you.” Nick tried to reassure him.

“Can I ask you something?” Greg asked, his eyes filling with tears. He let go of Nick's shirt and wrapped his arms around his knees as he sat curled up in bed.

“Sure G.” Nick replied.

“Are you still my boyfriend?” Greg looked up at him shyly.

“Of course I am, it hasn't been easy though with you being in a coma. But I will always stick by you, I love you.” Nick answered, putting a hand over Greg's.

“That's good to know, and I love you too.” Greg thought for a moment. “So, I never became a CSI?”

“I'm afraid not G.” Nick gave him a sympathetic smile. “But your job in the lab is still waiting for you when you recover.”

“Great...it's a shame I'm not a CSI, I was really good at it.” Greg pouted.

“I'm sure you were, you would make a good CSI.” Nick said trying to console him.

“So, the last three years never happened?” Greg clarified, still not sure if he believed it.

“Well, the last three years happened, just not the way you saw it in your mind.” Nick answered shrugging.

“So, you didn't get kidnapped and buried alive?” Greg asked, remembering his fantasy, or dream? He wasn't sure what to think.

“What!” Nick laughed. “Nope, I think I'd remember that!”

“And um...Warrick didn't get married?” Greg wanted to know.

“No, he's still single and loving it.” Nick said, smiling down at Greg.

“So, Brass didn't get shot and almost die? His daughter's not a crack whore?” Greg scratched his head.

“Brass never got shot G, I'm not so sure about Ellie though. I think she's a bartender back east somewhere.” Nick recalled.

“Grissom and Sara aren't sleeping together?” Greg said with hope in his eyes.

Nick burst out laughing and nearly pissed himself before he finally was able to speak again.

“Eww God no!” Nick cringed at the thought. “That's too gross to even think about, they're not together G.”

“Whew” Greg laughed and wiped imaginary sweat from his forehead. “Thank God, that never happened.” Greg remembered some more of his dream life.

“Sam Braun is still alive then? He didn't get murdered?” Greg asked.

“He's still alive, causing us and Catherine lots of trouble.” Nick answered with a sigh.

“So then I didn't get beat up in an alley by a mob of punks who were lead by a guy disguised as a pig?”

“No, Greg.” Nick laughed some more.”You've got some imagination.”

“Obviously.” Greg agreed.

What a great story! I really like it :)
I think it's a really good idea, that everything what happened, just happened in Greg's imagination.
Great work ;) I always love your fics and I hope you write a lot more....
