Know Your Rights!

Hey, I hope this is cool, beloved Ducky and Wibble..

I'm posting this thread because I've noted that we have a lot of younger posters here on Talk, and it's important to know what rights have been offered to you in your society.

I have recently been having a lot of issues myself with my landlord trying to take advantage of me, and I think I'm unique in my age group (I'm 21) in that rather than jumping on command, I've done some research into what RIGHTS I have when it comes to my local residential tenancy act.

I think that although the world is full of very many fantastic people, there are still many that are willing to take advantage of you for being young. Some people will look at you and assume that you don't know about the laws of your country and try to abuse that.

So anyway, I mean for this to be a place to educate each other on what means we have to resolve things favourably.. I hope that's not TOO vague. Post links, thoughts, information, etc. On legal info in your country, mediation opportunities, questions you may have about what action you can take in any given situation, etc.

Hm... I have access to all the Canadian rights (well, most of them), since Mom works for a lawyer. Any questions, Canadians? Shout them out. ^_^

Good one Ziggy!

I'd like to post a link here for the Dutch people around here that are planning to go to College/University and are thinking of living in a student house:

Information

This is all about your rights and duties as a renter and the rights/duties of your landlord. Read it carefully before you decide to rent a room somewhere.
