CSI Level Two
Sara had just gotten home after a long shift. Her feet were screaming, and she was feeling depressed. The source of her depression was once again how she felt for Grissom. She ached to take a leap of faith with him, but she knew it wasn't logical. He'd rejected her the last time she'd tried, and she didn't know if she could bear that pain again.
She sighed and sank onto her couch, putting her feet up. Her head was screaming, "Sara, don't put yourself out there again!" Her heart, on the other hand, screamed, "Do it! You know you want to!"
Her heart was right. She ached to take a chance, but could she risk it again? She groaned. Love was way too complicated. Her thoughts were interrupted by a gentle, almost inaudible knock on the door. Her heart lept a little. Could it be? She gathered her courage and rose, crossing the room.
"Griss, hey. Come on in." Her eyes met his for a fleeting moment, and she stepped aside to let him enter.

Grissom stepped inside. "You looked upset when you left earlier. Everything okay?" he asked gently.
Sara merely shook her head and led him back to the couch.
"What is it?" he questioned as he sat down and took her hends, though he had a feeling he already know.
She sighed and turned to face him. Griss, it's us. This could work. I know it could. Can we try, at least?" She could feel tears welling up already.
He wrapped his arms around her, and she curled into him. "That's why I came by. I was wrong to put you off before, and I wondered if we could start over."
She glanced up. "You mean it?"
He kissed her lightly. "Of course. Let's take a chance."

She broke the kiss after a few minutes. "You mean it, Griss? We can really try?"
He smiled and nodded as he traced her delicate jawline. "Sara, I made a huge mistake before. I was afraid if we got too close and something happened, I'd never be able to let you go. I'm not afraid anymore. Let's throw caution to the wind and leap out and touch the stars."
Sara chuckled. She'd never heard him talk like that, but she liked the idea, anyway. She curled up next to him, resting her head on his chest, and listened to his strong, steady heartbeat. She felt safe as he embraced her again. She knew she'd always feel safe in his arms. In his arms, she found the love and confort she'd always craved, but never got from anyone else.

*pulls out pitchfork* god I feel like a broken recording but *pokes with pitchfork* do I hear some fingers on the keyboard? TEEHEE :D

She wsn't sure why, but suddenly, tears began to roll dpwn her cheeks.
"Shh, shh," Grissom soothed. "It's all right." He held her close, realizing in that moment that he never wanted to let her go.
Then, it hit her. These were tears of joy. She had finally broken through her self-built wall and taken a risk. Grissom now had her heart, and she trusted him inplicitly.
"You did it, Sara," she thought as a smile crept onto her lips. "You've given him the key." She cuddled closer to him and let her eyes close, sleeping peacefully for the first time in ages.

She woke the next morning to find him stroking her hair. She smiled up at him. She'd always found that such a comforting gesture.
She yawned. "Been here all night?" she asked, sitting up.
He nodded. "I was gonna leave, but I saw you struggling, so I stayed."
"Struggling?" She glanced at him, confused.
He nodded again. "It sounded like you were havin' a nightmare."
She nodded, too. She sort of remembered that. "Thanks," she said with a smile.
"No problem." He smiled back. "Come on. I'll give you a lift to the lab."
She smiled again. "Okay. Be back in a sec," she agreed, rising and heading for the bedroom. She emerged a few minutes later, kit in hand.
"Ready to go?" he asked, rising.
She nodded, and he slipped an arm around her waist, kissing her lightly as he led her out to his Tahoe.
