Captain
Actress Jorja Fox (Sara Sidle) recently sat down with Cult Times magazine to reveal that five years after the premiere of CSI, she is still amazed by her character.
"I am still baffled by her intelligence," the actress told the magazine. "That's a fantasy thing for me because she's so much smarter than I am. That's exciting and how authentic and natural it is. It is just something she was born with. And then there's the mystery surrounding her. That was never necessarily intentional but there's a whole bunch of stories there that we are just beginning to tell."
One of the stories surfaced earlier this season in the episode "Nesting Dolls", where Sara revealed to Grissom that her mother killed her father when she was just a child. The actress admitted the storyline was risky but has learned to trust the writers. "We've had such an interesting season this year with so many shake-ups. For the most part, I support them completely. I'm all for taking risks and breaking the mold. Whenever you take a big risk, you stand a chance of it being really successful or failing horribly. It is a courageous thing to do, especially for the writers."
As for the character's romantic entanglements, the actress is simply having fun with Sara's many suitors, especially one Mr. Greg Sanders. "In the second season, we sort of established Greg had a crush on Sara and of course I loved that. If people find her interesting, that is a nice feeling," Fox said. "I'm open to it and Sara has definitely been finding Greg sexier. And we have something coming up that is pretty hilarious where we find ourselves naked together and that's the only buzz I am going to give you on that."
Fox may tease her fans, but the actress expressed great appreciation for the support she has received from them. "[...] when I got fired back in July, there was a tremendous amount of support from fans," she added. "It wasn't stuff just coming to me directly but stuff going to CSI and CBS. I was completely blown away and it made me feel a lot better. It is a big deal."
