CSI: Miami's new episode "Blood Moon" won its timeslot, but it came in slightly behind Fox's reality show American Idol for the evening.

According to Mediaweek's Programming Insider, "Blood Moon" scored a 14.4 rating/22 share. This means that 14.3\% of households with television sets had them tuned into CSI: Miami, while 22\% of households watching TV during that hour were viewing the episode. Miami won the hour overall, and came in first for the hour with adults 18-49 with a score of 7.3/18. However, it was down slightly from the last new episode that aired, "Witness to Murder", which scored a 15.1/22 (story).

American Idol was the overall champ for the night, scoring a 15.0/21 from 8pm to 9pm Eastern time. Idol's success allowed Fox to pull ahead of CBS to win the evening overall, scoring a 13.1/18 to CBS's 11.5/16. NBC took the third place slot with 8.0/11.

Though Yes, Dear and Still Standing took ratings hits opposite Idol, CSI: Miami's lead in shows performed well. Everybody Loves Raymond scored 13.7/18 at 9pm, coming in first in its slot. Two and a Half Men also came in first for its time slot, scoring 11.5/16 at 9:30pm.
