Hill Harper Pens Deal With Gotham Books

CSI Files

Captain
Hill Harper (Dr. Sheldon Hawkes) is a volunteer for the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization and reguarly talks to young people about the importance of education. But next year he'll have the opportunity to reach a broader audience.

The actor recently signed a publishing deal with Gotham Books to pen down his own book. Inspired by Rainer Maria Rilke's Letters to a Young Poet, Harper's Letters to a Young Brother will contain the same type of inspirational lessons. A graduate of Harvard and Brown, Harper hopes his book will provide guidance for today's youth.

"Education has always been very important to me and my family," the actor said. "And I'm a big proponent of trying to get young kids to go to school and educate themselves, because the world offers a wealth of opportunities."

"Hill has the charisma and sense of mission to connect with young people and give them the kind of inspiring and concrete advice they are hungry for," said Lauren Marino, Gotham Books' Executive Editor. "I'm thrilled to be working with Hill to help him get his message out to as many people as possible."

Letters to a Young Brother will be published in the spring of 2006. Read the original article for more information on Harper's project.
