Grissom Teams Up With Jack Malone

CSI Files

Captain
Two back-to-back shows combine to solve a murder mystery.

A special night of CBS programming will begin with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation at 9:00pm EST and continue with Without a Trace at 10:00pm EST. The two hour event brings Jack Malone (<font color=yellow>Anthony LaPaglia</font>) to Las Vegas in pursuit of a missing boy in "Who and What" and then sends Gil Grissom (<font color=yellow>William Petersen</font>) back to New York City with him to try to catch a killer in "Where and Why".

Petersen and LaPaglia told TV Guide that they had known each other for a number of years before filming the crossover. In fact, the idea for the crossover itself was several years in the making. It started after the two actors nearly filmed a movie with CSI director <font color=yellow>Danny Cannon</font>. "Danny thought it would be fun for us all to work together, so we've talked about this [crossover] on and off for four years now," Petersen explained. "It was a question of the right time and whether there was going to be a script or not. We didn't want to do it just because CBS wanted it."

The crossover finally did happen, and both episodes will air back-to-back on November 8. The plot is based on a real case, and it finally gets Petersen and LaPaglia together on one project. The story begins with a dead boy in Las Vegas, and there is a link to a case that the New York Missing Persons Squad of the FBI has been working on for six years. Jack Malone makes his way to Vegas to pursue the lead. The investigation finds him working with Grissom and "the difference in our styles becomes apparent right away," LaPaglia said.

I am so excited about this crossover. I love Jack Malone! And having read the spoilers I am really looking forward to seeing him interact with the CSI team. :) This one was a great idea for a crossover, I'm glad it's finally happening. Let's hope it doesn't disappoint.

And spare a thought for those who won't get to see it because WaT doesn't air new episodes at remotely the same time (or channel) as CSI. ;) So for that reason, I really hope they work as separate episodes as well!

im actually not looking forward to this as i dont watch without a trace so the idea of a crossover is completely lost on me. basically, i just dont care.

its hard to determine from the information, but are the episodes two stand alone events? ie two cases? or am i going to have to watch without a trace to figure out what happened on csi?

i guess if they are two separate cases i wont mind too much.

I'm pretty sure that the Without a Trace episode is meant as a continuation of the same case. So in theory you need to watch them both in order to get the full story... ;)

At least that is my understanding of it, having heard some Without a Trace spoilers.

i watched the preview on the cbs youtube site. and it said 'special 2 hour event' so im guessing you have to watch both

i have very little amounts of free time, i can watch one or maybe two shows a night. i really dont have the time to watch both of these shows. why are they doing this to me?? ill see how far it goes on csi and then decide whether or not to watch without a trace afterwards. i just really wish they didnt do this at all. i dont see the point of crossovers, even within the csi franchise but especially out of it
