CSI Files
Captain
Gil Grissom will go through "some midlife situation he's going to have to address" which could lead to love with Sara Sidle, actor William Petersen admitted in a new interview.
Speaking to the Herald Sun TV Guide (via Jorja Fox: Online), Petersen said that Grissom is "very strong but he has his limitations and he focuses on what he's good at."
Executive producer Danny Cannon said that Grissom will "become more engaged with the world" next season. Petersen insisted that he did not know what it meant, though he has heard it from the writers as well.
"It's not that [Grissom]'s never been out with a woman, it's just that he's never been in love with a woman, so that's not a priority for him. There's some change going on in him," he surmised.
"Assume Nothing," which is the title of next season's premiere episode, is also the way the actors discuss possible storylines for their characters with the press.
"If he's smart he'll chase me, right?" joked Jorja Fox, who plays Sidle. She said that her character was brought in as a potential love interest for Grissom but the backstory was never explored.
"I think the dance will be played out," she said, then added, "But I dont know for sure."
Executive producer Anthony Zuiker insisted that the show would remain a forensic drama at heart, and delve into the characters' personal relationships "in doses."
"It's so much richer when Jorja Fox wipes chalk off Billy Petersen's cheek, or he might call her 'honey'", he said.
