[IMG] Gary Dourdan (Warrick Brown) Saturday night walked home with an NAACP Image Award for his role on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

Dourdan was recognised by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, the Associated Press reported.

To win the gong, the actor beat off competition from Charles S. Dutton, of CSI lead-out series Without a Trace, ER's Mekhi Phifer and Soul Food cast members Boris Kodjoe and Aaron Meeks.

[IMG]While Dourdan emerged victorious on Saturday night, the CSI cast went home empty-handed at Sunday's Screen Actors Guild Awards. William Petersen (Gil Grissom), Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows), Jorja Fox (Sara Sidle), George Eads (Nick Stokes), Paul Guilfoyle (Jim Brass), Eric Szmanda (Greg Sanders), Robert David Hall (David Robbins) and Dourdan were nominated in the category of Outstanding Ensemble in a Drama Series, but were beaten by HBO's funeral home saga, Six Feet Under. This was the second year in a row the CSI team were up for the gong - in 2001 SAG voters elected NBC's The West Wing instead.

The Sopranos took out the other two drama series categories, while Will & Grace scooped two out of three comedy awards. Razzle-dazzle musical Chicago was the big winner in the motion picture section, taking home three out of five awards.

The Fox network will air the NAACP Image Awards at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13. The original NAACP article, as well as a bigger version of the above photo of Gary Dourdan, can be found at Yahoo! News, while a full list of SAG winners is available here. Advancement of Colored People in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series?

What a category! I think he's a very good actor. I haven't seen Six Feet Under in a while, but I'm sure it's still a great show. You can't win them all.
