From The Frontlines Of The Writers' Strike, Part Two

CSI Files

Captain

The WGA writers' strike is entering its second month, and while negotiations have resumed, the picketing continues as the writers hope for a fair deal that will bring them back to work. At the CBS Radford studio in Studio City, CSI: New York writers Noah Nelson, Barbie Kligman, John Dove, Zachary Reiter and Bill Haynes have been tirelessly walking the lines every day.

"We're just looking for a quick resolution so we can get back to work and create more episodes for the fans," Reiter, who has penned numerous episodes for CSI: NY including "Hung Out to Dry" and the conclusion to this season's 333 case, "The Thing About Heroes", notes. Reiter, aware of fan support adds a message to the fans, "Thanks for your patience."

Dove, whose most recent episode was the November sweeps entry "Commuted Sentences", also has a message for the fans: "Please let the networks know if you'd like us back at work."

Haynes, who also serves as the technical advisor for CSI: NY, scripted the final episode of the show completed before sweeps, which is scheduled to air on January 16, 2008. "From what we've heard and read on the site, everyone seems supportive," Haynes says. "We feel like we're fighting the good fight. To feel like we have public support and fan support makes all the difference."

What will happen on the show when a resolution is reached and the writers do get back to work? "Danny's going to take his shirt off," Dove jokes. "And Flack's going to take his shirt off."

Ah, Dove is obviously a man who knows how to please the fangirls!

*Can't wait for the strike to be over*

John Dove is a wise man, and knows what the fangirls want.

Ah, he is a sneaky man, that one. Well played, Dove, well played indeed. (I knew I loved him. :p)

John Dove for President!

Good article, Kristine. It's nice to hear that the writers are still hopeful, and I'm going to try to be optimistic that this whole thing can be resolved soon. We're talking about very talented individuals who deserve not only to be compensated for their work--but to be able to do that work to begin with. This strike goes to show that, although writers are one of many cogs that keep the industry moving, they are an important part of what makes it work.

*hug* Good luck, guys! :D

I feel the same. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it won't be long before some sort of fair resolution is reached.

I will fully admit that that was the first question out of my mouth after he said it. All I got as an answer was a cryptic smile. ;) :D

LOLZ! U did? Great!
So, za smile... was that an yes?

(Now that I remember, they do owe us those hoops on Saturday from the pilot. :p)

John Dove is my hero!

Top, do you think you could negotiate a little somethin'-somethin' for the fangirls next time you go picket? Let Dove and others know that if he scratches our back, we'll scratch his. ;)

Yay, the picture finally works. :D I love it! (And don't you just want to hug them all? :p)

They're certainly a cute looking bunch of writers. :) (Obviously it confused me that Fay said there was a picture and I still couldn't see it, but I found it eventually on the main news page)...

I love that you asked if D/F would be taking clothes off together Top. If Dove hadn't been thinking it himself, then maybe the seed has been planted and he'll be subconciously planning the perfect episode right now. :D  Ah, a fangirl can but dream...

^I couldn't resist! He said Danny was going to take his shirt off and then Flack...and of course, being a red-blooded woman, I had to ask, "Together?"

They're so pretty, so two times the nakedness...together...would be two times the pretty. ;)

Believe it or not, I also joked about an all naked CSI: NY musical.

I've been wanting John Barrowman to guest-star on CSI:NY--maybe he could make it for the musical episode. :p

Sadly, strike or no strike--I wouldn't hold your breath on the CSI: NY musical. :( ;)
