Fox In Talks To Return To 'CSI'

Fans lamenting the firing of Jorja Fox (Sara Sidle) and George Eads may have reason to hope, as reports leak out that Fox is in talks with CBS to return to CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

According to Variety (via Yahoo! News), representitives for Fox are claiming she did indeed sign CBS's letter promising to come to work during salary negotiations, but because the letter was mailed and not faxed CBS may have assumed the actress never signed the letter. Reuters (via Yahoo! News) noted that both Fox and Eads were offered a $20,000 per episode raise (from $100,000 to $120,000), but that the stars were reportedly holding out for more money.

While promoting the TNT movie Evel Knievel in which he stars at the Television Critics Association press tour, Eads claimed he overslept the first morning of CSI filming. "I overslept," he said. "And I don't mean I overslept 10 minutes, 30 minutes. I woke up white as a sheet 3½ hours after I was supposed to be on the set, and called to say I was on my way to work, and they said, 'Don't bother.'"

Eads claimed he was surprised over the network's response, maintaining that his absense was not "because I was holding out for more money. It's never been about cash for me. It's never been about money for me. That's not what this is about." He felt that CBS reacted in an extreme manner, relating it to a football coach firing a player for showing up late. "I'd expect the coach to have me run hills and run wind sprints until the sun goes down," he said, "not, you know, completely fire me."

Eads said he hopes to have the situation resolved by this weekend. He contacted CBS and "apologized nine ways to Sunday," though he did say he has yet to speak to CBS chief Les Moonves. "If after I've spoken to him from my heart he knows exactly what thesituation is, he's the boss. It's still up to him," Eads said of Moonves. "I want all this to work out. CSI is a part of who I am," he added.

Meanwhile, Eric Szmanda (Greg Sanders) has negotiated a deal with CBS with little fanfare. Szmanda will receive both a raise and increased screentime. Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows) is reportedly seeking a raise as well, but as of yet nothing official has been negotiated.

Well this is some good news finally. I guess we'll all just have to wait to see if Jorja will be back on the show. Not really sure what is going to happen to George. I'm not sure if I beleive the whole "oversleeping" thing. I would think he would be ready to go for shooting on the first day of production that he would set a few alarms to e sure he was up. It just sounds to me to be an excuse although I'm sure he does want to be back on the show and he understands its Les M.'s call. I do not believe he will let him back or Jorja but we can hope.

YES!! This is awesome! I just hope this is true and everything works out okay. PLEASE God, let this work! ::jumps for joy histerically:: :)

Having Jorja Fox and George Eads not on the next season of CSI is not an option. I usually don't care about these sort of things, but in the case of this show, which is nothing less then television magic, I have to speak up.

If Fox does not bring Jorja Fox and George Eads back, I say that all us dedicated and die-hard CSI fans demand it! Let's take action to save one of the best television shows on the air! Below is a letter I sent out to CBS today. Hopefully any TRUE fan that reads this will also send out a letter so that we can have the entire CSI cast back on the air. In my mind, not having those two actors on is like not having a show at all.

CBS,

I can't believe I'm writing this letter. Especially because there are so many other more important issues out there to take action on and I have so many other things to do. However as an avid CSI junkie, I beg you to reconsider your decision to fire Jorja Fox and George Eads. They are central to a show that as you very well know, is sheer television magic. It's rare to find a show these days with such a great cast and story line. Without them I honestly think CSI won't work anymore. I know for a fact I won't watch anymore. I've invested too much time in the character development to get caught up in TWO new characters. What would Gillian's island be without the Skipper and Gillian? What would Jeopardy be without Alex Trabec? What would the Simpson's be without Homer's voice? I'll tell you what they would be, crap and not worth watching.

I'm sure after some negotiation you all can find a common ground. Don't ruin the only good television show on the air because you don't want to fork over an extra 50k. Come on! That's chump change to a corporation like CBS and the cash you make on the show itself is probably out of control. Probably more money then most people will see in several lifetimes. You can spare some money. Just give it to them. They are great actors. Stop being so greedy. It's not good for you to be so greedy. It makes for a fowl constitution. What the heck are you going to do with all that money anyway? Buy more stuff? Become more powerful? Buy a building made of solid gold?! Who cares about all that stuff, you can't take it with you anyhow so what’s the use of owning and collecting all that stuff. That actually goes for you actors as well. Why do you need more then 120k an episode? That's a truck full of money. Why do you need more? So you can buy more real estate in the Hamptons or Manhattan? Come on! Just think about it for a moment, it's just dumb.

Making good quality art like CSI is so much more rewarding then living with the latest gadget or sipping on the most divine champagne or buying the coolest red car ever. That’s right, I call it art, because that what the show is, ART! Just figure it out and get back to producing the next season, with the entire cast the way the TV gods intended it. Firing Eads and Fox is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. It's like dumping gold down the toilet.

Best Regards,

fernando orellana

AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
THEY ARE BACK!!! OR SHE IS!!! YAY!!! YAY!!! YAY!!!..*pants*..... yay!!!! im so happy now! let geeklove reign...forever!!! :D

I'm glad they are trying to sort it out, but honestly how many people have overslept on an important day? I have at least twice, and I was gutted because I had. It could be a genuine mistake on George's behalf.

I am happy about the news, but why do I feel it could have been a publicity stunt? Think about it, why sack two successful actor on one of the most popular TV shows at the moment? On some Livejournal communities, i have some people express the opinion of maybe it was to make the profile of the original CSI cast a little bit more. As CSI miami and New York have come on the scene, the profile of the LV cast has faded slightly...

But Don't get me wrong...I really want CBS & the cast to sort out these problems, so Jorja & George can stay and film the next season...

oooh i got to say that i LOVE your pretty avatar...sorry about this OTT post...it is soooo pretty!!

If the letters were about not being away during filming while the negotiations were going on, then why were Peterson and Helgenberger excused for
legit health resons

Maybe they provided a sick/doctors letter or sent this letter back many days earlier so CBS woyuld know...

But if Will & Marg weren't going to be there, how would they be able to film? Surely to film the first ep or whatever they'd need all cast to be there...

And Thank you Kazzy about the avatar... :D

They provided enough evidence that they were Really sick, Even though in later articles it says Marg DID show up for the first day of work... HUH
As for GE & JF Those letters were to basically assure CBS that the actors would not try to play sick to by more time to get what they wanted (Pull an everybody loves raymond stunt basically where about 5 cast member suddenly had something wrong with them during the negotations but then were very healthy after CBS gave them what they wanted.), that while they were negotating they would show up and work
and if they were sick they would provide something like a doctors note that would prove the reason for the time missed...least thats what i am guessing from the articles.
