First Spoilers For Next New 'Miami' Episode

CSI Files

Captain
CSI Files sources today revealed the first plot details of "Addiction," the first new CSI: Miami episode to air once reruns are over.

An hour ago, Michael and Kay Coleman were a gorgeous couple celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary. They'd just had lunch at the exclusive Shore Club, and were speeding away in their Jaguar - Kay behind the wheel, Michael making a few short phone calls for Coleman Shutters, his successful family business. Michael's two brothers would be tending to the company in the afternoon, so Michael and Kay were looking forward to a romantic day together.

That was an hour ago. Now, Kay lies on the bottom of a ravine next to the smashed-up Jaguar, while a few meters away Michael is being treated by paramedics for a wound in his forehead. But he doesn't care about his head - he just wants to know if his wife is still alive. Horatio, who's at the crime scene, has the difficult task of telling him she's not. Through his tears, Michael tells Horatio that a disguised man was hiding on the back seat, and forced Kay at gunpoint to drive on. Suddenly, she made too sharp a turn, and the carjacker knocked Michael unconscious. He must then have shot Kay, as she's now got a huge gunshot wound in the back of her head.

Horatio isn't sure if he should buy the story. If the carjacker picked the Colemans because he thought a Jaguar-owning couple would guarantee a rich loot, why didn't he take any of their money? And if he was really sitting on the back seat, how did he manage to hit Michael on the forehead? When they also discover that Kay wasn't shot until after the car had already crashed, Horatio thinks it's time to test Michael's hands for gunshot residue. They come up clean, but Horatio's still not convinced he's completely innocent.

Horatio grows even more suspicious when he discovers Michael took out extra life insurance on his wife just two months ago. He's beginning to think there never was a carjacker, until Calleigh finds evidence a third person was in the Jaguar during the crash. He bumped his head against the side of the car, and conveniently left some skin cells. In a further stroke of luck, it turns out his DNA profile is already in the system: his name is Victor, and he's about to get a visit from Calleigh and Ryan. But when they arrive, they find Victory lying dead on the floor - shot with the same gun that killed Kay. On his body are directions to the place where Michael and Kay Coleman had lunch - directions that were typed on official stationary of Coleman Shutters...

The B-plot of "Addiction" is not primarily focused on a major criminal case. Instead, it will feature Alexx Woods, who we find regularly gives tours of the morgue to recovering alcoholics, to show them the victims of drunk drivers. It's a terrible shock for the visitors to the confronted with the possible results of their addiction. But for one of them, Derek Robinson, it's also an inspiration, and he asks Alexx if he could have job as assistant. She isn't wild about the idea - the lab can't serve as anyone's personal rehab. But Derek used to be a medic in the Navy, and she is in need of an assistant, so she agrees to give him a one week trial period...

Please note that this plot information has not been confirmed by CBS or Bruckheimer TV and until such time you should treat it as you would any other rumour from an unofficial source. The details are based on an early draft of the script and aspects of the episode may change before it goes to air.

Although "Addiction" is the first upcoming CSI: Miami episode, it is not yet known whether it will still air in 2004, or whether the show will be in reruns until early 2005.
