First Plot Details For 'The Giving Tree'

CSI Files

Captain
When the most hated member of a jury turns up dead, the finger of suspicion immediately points to the other eleven jurors. But which one? Enter Grissom and company in "The Giving Tree".

According to CSI Files sources, the dead juror is Chris Goober, a twenty-something graduate student at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. The jury had been sequestered for two-and-a-half weeks because Chris disagreed with the decision of the other jurors, thus stalling any chance of a verdict. As the days dragged on, the other jurors, who all had lives, families and jobs to go back to, became increasingly resentful of Chris's position. Then, one day, when all the other jurors were out in the hall, Chris collapsed and died.

The jurors come from all walks of life. They include Lana Davis, a pole dancer, who offered Chris sexual favours to change his mind; Tara Newsome, who is due to be married in five days; and Bob Durham, a salesman with a mean streak. Chris was allergic to peanuts, and Bob used to take great pleasure in flicking peanut shells at him. But would he have killed the grad student to get back to his job?

It turns out that peanuts were in fact the weapon of choice. The murderer had put peanut butter in Chris's chili, which he ordered for lunch from the take-away shop every day without fail. The CSIs seem to have exhausted all their leads when it turns out not all of the jurors were completely cut off from the outside world. Grant Bell, a businessman, was seen talking to someone on a cell phone on the day of Chris's death. An accomplice at the take-away shop? The CSIs are on the case.

What what about "The Giving Tree" itself? That's Nick's job. The CSI is suprised to discover that a missing persons case he worked several years ago has been reopened - as a murder investigation. And a forty-foot cottonwood tree beside a river bank could make or break the case...
