Now that the firing/rehiring of <font color=yellow>George Eads</font> (Nick Stokes) and <font color=yellow>Jorja Fox</font> controversy is behind CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, executive producer <font color=yellow>Carol Mendelsohn</font> is looking forward to getting down to the business of filming the show's fifth season.

"We do want to challenge each of the characters," Mendelsohn told Zap2It. She noted that Greg (<font color=yellow>Eric Szmanda</font>) will be leaving his post in the DNA lab to head out into the field.

"We feel that we're shaking it up a bit by having Greg go into the field," she said. "It certainly changes the dynamic. It provides a freshness to the series. The DNA guys make a lot more money than the investigators in the field, but you always want people to go in the field. It allows us to see the world through Greg's eyes. We like that very much." 24's <font color=yellow>Reiko Aylesworth</font> will be filling in for Greg in the lab, possibly on a recurring basis.

But Greg isn't the only character who Mendelsohn wants to turn the spotlight on. "We would like to see some of Grissom's vulnerability. What is Grissom's fallibility?" Mendelsohn said of CSI's leading man.

Could it relate to Sara? No word from Mendelsohn, but Grissom, along with the rest of the CSI team will learn something surprising about their ambitious colleague. "We're going to realize this year that there's something about Sara Sidle we don't know," Mendelsohn revealed. "Not even Grissom knows, and he obviously has the longest relationship, going back pre-CSI. As we find out about this, a lot of what makes Sara tick becomes that, 'A-ha, I get it now."

And even-keeled Catherine will face her own challenges as well, some of them related to her biological father, Sam Braun. "Catherine is a very complex character, and what ultimately does taking a $250,000 check from her biological father (a wealthy and shady casino owner) mean?" Mendelsohn pondered. "She's got a dead-on moral compass, but once you take something from someone, how easy is it to ask for more?"

Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) said it in Legally Blonde. A "tight buns" exercise instructor was accused of murdering her husband. Elle said that line.

i have a feeling that Sara has been raped, maybe at college. That is why she gets so upset with the rape cases. Whatever it is it will be big and sad.

Hmmmm Unspoken , you might be right. I mean, Grissom doesn't know about it, so who knows? But, if they are as close as they seem or seemed when Sara first came, do you think she might have told Grissom if they were good friends? Hmmm I don't know. I guess we will just have to wait and see. No, it isn't killing me to find out........whatever gave you that idea? AHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sara has a hard time dealing with the rape cases and they are getting harder for her to handle. Also nobody has asked her if she was raped. Plus when a women is raped ans she is working through it she my not want to tell anyone. And it is Sara and she does not tell anyone anything she thinks it is a weakness. She could have been raped before she met Grissom. And if it came out that she was raped it would fall into place why she cant handle them. But that is my feelings on what will happen.

I'm 99.999% convinced she was raped (most likely right before she met Griss and maybe by rohypnol because((just a guess)) Chaos Theory) and/or beaten by a boyfriend... I mean, she gets emotional with rapes and all, but remember her little.... 'episode' in "Sex, Lies and Larvae"? well, its just a thought... but the way they phrased that... "what makes her tick"... i mean, what the hell else could they mean by 'tick'... Grissom?! Unlikely.

I'm almost convinced she was raped in some fashion, but perhaps it was when she was younger... way before she would have met Grissom. Rape is a hard enough thing to deal with, but children who were abused have a particularly hard time dealing with it as they get older. As adults their pasts can be confusing and just too hard to deal with. Because the abuse occured when they were children, they were unable to process it as well as an adult might... therefore it is much more difficult to get over.... just speculation.

I've also been thinking about rape.. I think that's the most logical reason to why she gets so emotional with the rape and abuse cases. I can't help but feel sorry for her! I know they're just character on a TV show, but they're almost like real people to me, and I get so sad when bad things happen to them! :(
