Fidel Castro

Calihan

Captain
Since he temporarily handed over leadership of Cuba to his brother this morning, I was wondering do you think he's going to die soon. I think he could die any day now, I almost hope he does die.

I usually don't hope for people to die but, look at how horrible he is the the Cuban people, he's worth more than 500 million. I don't know any more specific than that. If he's that rich don't you think he should use some of that to put Cuba into better shape.

How do you all feel about his impending death, please be honest.

Well... he is 79. His Brother's 75. I don't hope he isn't going to die, tha'd be terrible, but I do hope that he does retire from it permanetly, like make a statement, and concentrate on his ailing health. Because health is more important than conducting a contry, or so I've been told...

Castro said that it was only a temporary hand-over. Honestly, I think that Castro is the type of guy who would hold on to his presidency until the day he dies.

Plus he's at the top of the list for leaders who have survived assassination attempts, I can't remember the exact number though, so I'd have to agree with CaptainMiracle51.

I really don't know. He's really old.. I must say: On one side, I hate communism and you're supressing your nation. But on the other side, he has been a good leader. In my eyes, he'd be better if he'd be a socialist or something.

I don't know if he's going to die.

Hello all! I am Spanish. As you guys wrote, I would not say that I want him to die.., but I honestly hope that this lead to a democracy in Cuba. By the way, Spanish external affairs minister is the only one in Europe who wished him "to recover early". I think our entire government is more silly than what they appear in the world media since they just agree with Evo Morales and Hugo Chavez...and so on..

(sorry 4 my english :p )

I agree with you about communism, but if he was socialist how would that be any better. I know the basics when it comes to economics in government. Here's basically what I know:

Communism works in theory, but since everyone makes the same money no matter how hard they work, there's no motivation to work harder. The government owns everything although in some countries such as China and Cuba private investment is encouraged.

Isn't the only difference between communism and solialism is that socialism openly allows private ownership of comapnies and investment, or am I missing more.

You said in your post that he was a good leader, what did he do that was good for the country.

He's 80, the guys been around ever since I was a kid and so many Cubans are rejoicing-and celebrating-big population here in my city-- and their saying he's already dead  bet Gloria Estafan is happy- ;) I saw her interviwed and boy what he put her family through -he'll probably -if he lives be in poor health from now on-I don't discuss my pollitcal views on a fan-site- but I think the country would be in such better shape if things changed-
