This is just a tiny piece of a larger story, and takes place sort of in the middle. The entire story isn't centered around Calleigh, but this bit is. Here, Calleigh has just taken her father out for lunch, and is about to drop some big news. Please let me know what you think!
“Daddy, I’m going to have a baby.”
Kenwall stared at his daughter, “You’re... what?”
“I’m pregnant, Dad,” Calleigh told him bluntly.
“You can’t be. You’re not married,” Kenwall sputtered. “Who’s the father?” he demanded.
“Daddy,” Calleigh said evenly, “that’s not important right now.”
“Not important? Of course it’s important. Give me his name!”
“I’m a grown woman Daddy. I can take care of myself. Believe me, this was planned.”
“Planned?”
“I’m having a baby, Daddy,” Calleigh said again with a sigh, “and I can’t let you be a part of it’s life.”
“What?” Kenwall demanded, suddenly angered, “why would you keep me away from my own grandchild?”
“Daddy, unless you stop drinking, I will not let you have any contact whatsoever with my child. You have a choice to make. Your alcohol, or your grandchild.”
“You can’t give me an ultimatum, Calleigh. I’m your father.”
Calleigh stood up, grabbing her purse. “I just did, Daddy.” With that, she turned and walked away, not looking back.
~Okay, so I know there's not much there, but that's all I have at the moment. Well, except for the other pieces of the story I wrote, but those are for later
I'd really love some feedback on this.
