Entertainment Weekly’s Fall TV Preview issue has finally hit the stands and in it, the magazine revealed what’s in store for our CSIs this season.
The Vegas team will finally reunite during the season premiere, but certain members of the crew, Nick Stokes and Gil Grissom, will not be able to let go of the events of “Grave Danger.” "The echoes of Walter Gordon continue," said the CSI powers-that-be. Gordon was responsible for the kidnapping of Nick Stokes in “Grave Danger,” and though the character killed himself in the episode, Grissom will this season learn Gordon may have had an accomplice. “That means sleepless nights for Grissom and recovery issues for Nick.”
Entertainment Weekly has also managed to gather bits and pieces of information regarding the cases the Vegas crew will encounter this season. The show managed to shock viewers with episodes like “King Baby” during season 5, and season 6 won’t be much different. One episode will revolve around “extreme biting” (different from regular biting), and another one will pay homage to the movie The Traveling Executioner. The 70s flick sees the work of a man who travels the southern U.S. with a portable electric chair and offers his services as a freelance executioner for $100 a pop.
Down in Miami, Horatio’s personal life continues to be a source of angst. This season, it will be revealed the lieutenant shot and killed a man while off duty back in New York. The storyline will begin to come to life in the first episode of the season, ”From The Grave.” "What happens in this episode is that he is in the same position he was way back when that homicide occurred," said Ann Donahue. Through the season, Horatio will be seen trying to find penance with the help of New Yorker Cardinal Benedetti.
The season premiere of Miami will also follow up on Calleigh Duquesne’s decision to walk away from the ballistics lab. However, Calleigh won’t be rid of her Bullet Girl persona for long, the magazine revealed. She’s expected to return to the ballistics lab promptly after making a short round through the toxicology department.
Expect CSI: New York to look and feel completely different this season, as Mac and his team will be moving on up to a brand new lab in a high rise building. The show will also lighten up considerably, the producers’ attempt to rid the show of its ‘dark’ reputation. Changes are also expected to happen within the cast: one CSI will leave and another one will join. "We'll be losing one of our primary characters in the first two episodes," said series creator Anthony Zuiker.
Though Zuiker did not say who is leaving, it’s been confirmed actress Vanessa Ferlito (Aiden Burn) will return her NYPD badge in the episode ”Grand Murder At Central Station.” Anna Belknap will join the cast as Lindsay Monroe, a CSI from Montana trying to get used to New York life. Two new coroners will also join Mac’s team, as head M.E. Dr. Sheldon Hawkes will opt for working on the field as a CSI.
