CSI Files
Captain
Two of the CSI franchise's female stars will soon be making the transition from the small to the big screen.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Emily Procter (Calleigh Duquesne) has joined the cast of Big Momma's House 2, the sequel to the 2000 hit comedy in which Martin Lawrence played an FBI agent who disguised himself as an old lady - the titular Big Momma. In this new film, Lawrence's character will go undercover as a nanny in the household of a workaholic who's under investigation for murder. Procter will play the workaholic's wife, who's taught by Big Momma how to slow down and reconnect with her family.
Big Momma's House 2 will be Procter's first movie role since joining CSI: Miami three years ago. Before that, she had small roles in films such as Leaving Las Vegas, Jerry Maguire and Body Shots. It is not known whether Procter will film her role during Miami's summer hiatus, or whether she'll attempt to fit it into the show's shooting schedule next season.
Meanwhile, the Hollywood Reporter also announced that Aisha Tyler (Mia Dickerson) will be keeping busy the next few months with the independent feature film 45 and the Lifetime movie For One Night. This week, she will travel to Toronot to begin work in 45, which also features Milla Jovovich, Angus Macfadyen and Stephen Dorff. It's an "erotic drama set in the seamy underworld of New York's Hell's Kitchen," in which Tyler will play a court-appointed social worker who helps Jovovich's character, one half of a Bonnie and Clyde-like couple who turn on each other.
Next month, Tyler is heading to New Orleans, where For One Night will be filmed. Tyler's role is that of a newspaper reporter who helps a black teenager to brave decades of segregation to stage an interracial high school prom. The film is scheduled to air later this year on Lifetime.
