Meanwhile, Grissom and Sara who are about to spill the beans on their relationship, work on a case about nine year old Alison who witnessed the murder of her mother... But will she tell the CSIs what really happened, before it's too late?

    Chapter One
    -------------

"Sara?" Greg called from in the breakroom. "What's up?" she replied. "I have a question for you" Greg smirked. "Shoot" Sara said as she cracked a smile "Not literally." Greg smiled back, and walked towards her. "I haven't talked to you since Monday. It's Friday. You see me everyday. We were even assigned on a case together, but for some reason you asked if Catherine could take your place. What's going on?"

Suddenly, Sara's cell phone rang. The caller read "Grissom". "Greg, I have to take this phone call. Catch you later, alright?" Sara said, walking down the hallway. "Sure." Greg murmered, rolling his eyes.

"Sidle" Sara remarked as she answered the call. "Are you free tonight?" Grissom asked. "You know I'm always free. We're in a relationship... Remember?" she laughed. "Yeah. DB in Henderson, meet me at 18332 Incline Street. Alison, age nine, called the police. I'll explain when you get here." Sara closed her cell phone, pressed her lips together and smiled.

Grissom's watch read 10:34pm. "Grissom. I'm here, so what happened?" Sara yelled from across the yellow tape. Grissom walked towards her, "Alison isn't speaking to anyone. I asked her if she'd feel more comfortable with a.. a.." he hesitated. "A woman, Grissom?" Sara interrupted. "Yeah. She's sitting over there." Grissom pointed to the little girl sitting on the swing hanging from the tree.

"Hi, I'm Sara Sidle, from the crime lab. What's your name?"

"A.. Al.. Alison." the little girl spoke softly with tears falling from her eyes. "Where's your family, Alison?" Sara asked. "My.. My.. Mom is in the house, she's dead. Didn't your boyfriend tell you what happened? My daddy is in Flordia. He's on some business job. My brother is in heaven, and my sister is at her friends house." Alison ignorantly replied as she cried. Sara shook her head, she's beginning to feel for this little girl. Her dark brown hair, and bright blue eyes made Sara stare into a daze. She knew something was wrong.. something more disturbing than the death of her mother...

    Chapter Two
    --------------

Sara walked towards Brass, "Hey, Brass, where did Grissom go?"

"He's "studying" the dead body. In the house, you can't miss it... Or him" Brass replied.

"Alright" Sara grinned, walking to the house. As Sara stepped inside the big white house she explained to Grissom, "Griss, the little girl isn't saying much to me. Did you contact any of her other family?"

"Yeah, Brass got a hold of her father, but he said he can't get back until tomorrow afternoon..." Grissom told Sara, staring at the dead body "If my wife was dead, I'd be on the next flight out, wouldn't you?"

"Yeah, except, he'd be my husband, and I'd most likely not be in Florida" Sara joked. After seeing the slightly annoyed look on Grissom's face she immediatly began talking about the dead body, "The blood splatter is inconsistant with what the little girl told me that happened" Sara continued, "Stabbed through the chest. She said the killer went from the kitchen, grabbed one of their knives and stabbed her mother..."

"If she was stabbed, there would be no blood half way across the room, none on the ceiling. Yet there is a stab wound in her chest." Grissom replied to Sara. "What did David say the cause of death was?" Sara asked. "Stab wound to the chest, she died instantly." Grissom replied, the two shared a look and Sara exclaimed, "I'll get blood samples to DNA.. Look, green fibres in her hands, white wine on the table on the other side of the room, and a fireplace with a burning fire" Sara took her flashlight and ran it across the room "I don't think this woman, besides her daughter, was alone. And, was she moved?"

"David said she died on the spot."

Grissom's watch now read 1:08am. While Grissom and Sara were back at the lab, waiting on the results from the blood DNA, fibres, and white wine they collected, they decided to have some lunch. Sara took a bite out of her green salad, while Grissom sat there tapping his pen up and down on the table.

Catherine walked in with a grin on her face, "How's your case going, Sara?" she smirked.

"Great. A DB, a little girl who's not saying anything other than where her family is, and possibly another victim." Sara smiled.

"Are you going to tell my why you called me in on Monday, while it was my day off... When I was out of town with my daughter for one of those very few moments of quality time I get to spend with her?" Catherine asked Sara.

Sara's pager started beeping. "DNA. 911" it read. "Grissom, the DNA results are in, lets go."

"Sorry." Sara remarked to Catherine, as the two left the room.

"Hey... Grissom... And Sara... What's new." Hodges smirked. "Get on with the results" Grissom snapped back. "You aren't fooling anyone, ya know?" Hodges abruptly replied. Grissom and Sara shared a look before Grissom continued, "Is this what you paged us for?" "No, the green fibres you found in the victims hand.. Silk. And you're not going to believe this one. Victoria's Secret silk underwear. $16.99 at any Victoria's store" Hodges explained. Sara smiled, "And how do you know this?" "Do I need to explain how to find the results from a fibre?" Hodges asked, "Oh, I also bought my girlfriend a pair last week." Sara smiled, "Right."

Grissom and Sara turned around and walked out the door, "Since when does Hodges has a girlfriend?" Sara sarcasitically asked Grissom.

Grissom's watch read 3:01am. "Why do you keep looking at your watch?" Sara asked. "I don't know, I have a feeling something is going to happen." Grissom replied. "Oh, are your spidey senses tingling?" the two shared a smile, when Catherine and Greg walked in Grissom's office.

"Look. Sara, what's going on? Tell us, you bailed on me,"

"And, you took me away from a nice night out of the town" Catherine interrupted Greg.

"Oh, yeah. Sorry about that Cat. Something came up, I can't explain it right now. I'm very busy. I owe you on Catherine, anytime."

    "Oh, well..." Catherine pleaded.

"Not yet though." Sara smiled to Catherine.

Grissom and Sara began to walk out of his office, leaving the two standing there, "Oh, and Greg, I'm not ignoring you" she smiled back.

Grissom's cell phone rang, "Grissom" he answered. "Hey, Gil, It's Brass. You and Sara got a visitor" Brass hung up. Sara and Grissom walked to the interview room. There sat nine year old Alison. Covered in dirt, with a smell of sewage.

"Alison, what are you doing here?" Sara walked towards the little girl. "My.. my sister drove me here. She told me to wait for her."

"Where is your sister?" Grissom asked.

"I don't know. She said she'd only be five minutes."

Grissom and Sara left the interview room. "What's going on here? She left her nine year old sister at the CSI lab?" Sara said. "I don't think she left her here, I believe Alison found some other way here. Why would someone drop off a nine-year old girl, covered in dirt, who has the smell of sewage?" Grissom raised an eyebrow.

Sara and Grissom ran out of the office, and drove up to the Albani's driveway where they saw a five foot - five inch woman standing near the tree, sobbing.

Grissom took his flashlight from toe to head, "Hello? You're in our crime scene."

"Your crime scene? I live here. And I just walked in the house, all to find my mother is nowhere to be seen, with blood all over our living room."

"What is your name?" Sara asked. "Jenna. Jenna Albani"

"Jenna, where were you tonight?" Sara asked.

"My aunt's. She asked me to babysit my baby cousin." Jenna replied.

"Can anyone confirm that?" said Grissom.

"Yeah, my five month old cousin. Maybe if you're lucky he'll speak to you." she sarcastically replied.

"Grissom. Who's lying? Who's telling the truth? We've got more blood spatter than one person could possibly make, a possible lying nine-year old, a sister who's covering someone's tracks, or a father who is nowhere to be seen, and I've got a partner who won't keep his eyes off his watch..."

"Partner" Grissom stared in her eyes.

    Chapter Four
    -------------
Grissom and Sara sat in their SUV watching the stars from their condo driveway.

"When are we going to tell them, Sara?" Grissom sighed.

"Soon.. We just have to get them at the right moment, ya know? Not when they're all bombarded with work, we don't need them with their jaws dropped open, unwilling to talk to us again." Sara replied.

"Yeah." Grissom said as he moved his hand slightly into Sara's. Their eyes caught each others, a smile grew upon both faces as they lapsed into a gentle kiss.

It was 7:57am, when Grissom got the call from Brass. "Grissom, the sister of Alison has been found dead near the desert palms casino, strangely enough; she's not even old enough to gamble." Brass explained to Grissom.

Grissom rolled over, "Sara.." he whispered. She awoke, with only half an hour sleep each, they had to get ready to investigate the next death. "Alison's sister was found dead this morning, near a Casino. Poor girl, she was only 18." he frowned.

Sara and Grissom arrived to the lab, in seperate cars, and seperate times. They met in the hall as Sara spoke, "So, where do we start?"

"Well, lets head to the crime scene. You're driving."

"Great." Sara sarcastically replied, "This is going to be one long day. You're buying lunch, or breakfast.. Whatever it is." they exchanged smiles.

Grissom and Sara met Brass at the crime scene, where David was examing the body on-scene. "She died of strangulation, signs of assualt. She fought the killer." David lowered his head.

"Grissom, has anybody found the father yet? Wasn't he supposed to be in this afternoon? I think we should get Alison in a safe place, at least until we question their father." Sara suggested.

"She's in temporary foster care, Sara. We just have to wait." Grissom told Sara.
