CSI Files
Captain
Charles Correll Jr., who helmed several episodes of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: Miami, passed away earlier this month. He was 60.
The Emmy Award-winning cinematographer-turned-director died of pancreatic cancer in Los Angeles on June 4, Variety reported. Correll was said to be filming instalments of CSI and CSI: Miami when he died.
Correll's episodes include CSI's "Blood Lust" and "You've Got Male" and CSI: Miami's "Breathless", "Bunk" and "Tinder Box". However, he will probably be best remembered for "Ellie", the emotional episode featuring Jim Brass's daughter. "Ellie" was also the first CSI episode to take the number one spot on the weekly ratings chart.
An industry veteran for over thirty years, Correll worked on iconic series such as Kojak, MacGuyver, Law & Order and Beverly Hills 90210. He received an Emmy Award for his cinematography for the mini-series The Winds of War.
