Dean Winters On Being A Crackhead Brother

CSI Files

Captain
Dean Winters (Raymond Caine) knows everything about playing main characters' brothers, and next week he's bringing another one to life... literally.

Next Monday, the actor will be seen on the season finale of Miami as Horatio Caine's long lost, and initially dead, brother Raymond Caine. "10-7" hasn't aired yet, but Winters revealed, he's already getting recognized. "I have these friends of mine in New York, and they're like, 'You're doing CSI: Miami?' I go, 'Yeah.' They go, 'Are you the dead crackhead brother?' I'm like, 'Yeah, that's me.'"

It's not the first time Winters has been called in to play the hero's brother. The actor has been portraying Dennis Leary's brother on the series Rescue Me since its premiere, and so couldn't help comparing his co-workers acting styles. "David's real quiet and very intense. Denis definitely takes his work seriously, but he's more of a raconteur," he revealed. "But they're both really good actors. You always want to up your game. I haven't really upped my game since Oz ended, so it's nice to be working with these guys."

But whether Winters will be pulling out a double shift next season on both Rescue Me and Miami remains to be seen, as the actor himself has not received a definite answer. "I'm not sure what CSI: Miami has in store," he said. "I'm just literally going where my agent tells me the work is, and hopefully it'll stay that way. There were a tough couple of years after Oz, and I don't want to go through that again."
