CSI: Crime Scene Investigations didn't manage to snag any trophies at last night's 61st annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony, despite being nominated in two categories.
CSI was nominated for Best Drama, Television, but lost to 24, which is currently in its third season. William Petersen (Gil Grissom) received a Best Actor in a Drama nod, but lost out to Anthony LaPaglia of Without a Trace, CSI's lead out show. Without a Trace is in its second season.
Elyse has extensive coverage at her web site of the CSI actors and creators at the Globes. Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows) was interviewed by NBC on their preshow. She praised the cast of the show, saying, "I'm proud to be a part of this company of people."
Helgenberger also fielded a question about the possibility of romance between Grissom and Catherine. "The fans seem to be very interested in that," she said. "Catherine and Grissom are very opposite. They're yin and yang, but I think that's why people like them, and why they are so mysterious...maybe down the line. I don't know. I don't know about this season. Leaving it open."
At the ceremony, Helgenberger presented the award for Best Musical or Comedy, Television, alongside Jim Belushi (According to Jim). The award went to the BBC series The Office. Helgenberger and Belushi also introduced the Golden Globe presenter, Lily Costner (the daughter of actor Kevin Costner) who handed out the awards to the winners.
Before the ceremony, E! preshow host Melissa Rivers caught members of the CSI cast on the red carpet. Jorja Fox (Sara Sidle), Robert David Hall (Dr. Robbins), George Eads (Nick Stokes), Eric Szmanda (Greg Sanders), CSI creator Anthony Zuiker and his wife fielded questions about their attire and their hopes for the evening's award show.
