'CSI' Scribe Developing Serial Killer Drama

CSI Files

Captain
Josh Berman, a long time writer for CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is in the midst of developing his own show to be broadcast on the Fox network, according to the Futon Critic.

The overseeing body will be Regency TV, a partnership between Fox TV Studios and New Regency. Head honcho Robin Schwartz, who jointed the company 8 months ago, described CSI staff veteran Berman as an "unbelievable get".

"He's been one of the writers to stay on 'CSI' the longest [...] waiting for his turn to get out there with a show", said Schwartz. The show will be a procedural crime drama which will revolve around serial criminals. Very few details have been released but Schwartz termed it a "really unique take on a procedural".

In addition, CSI: Miami writer and co-executive producer Laurie McCarthy has also been recruited by Regency TV to pen a new ensemble legal drama, the details of which are also unknown. McCarthy's previous credits include writing and directing on Beverly Hills: 90210, and Berman's include a stint writing for hit legal sitcom Ally McBeal.

A "unique" show on FOX? I give it half a season, if it even reaches the airwaves in the first place. Still, depending on what other details are released before it premieres, I just might give it a chance.
