CSI: Crime Scene Investigation received Golden Globe nominations in two major categories, Best Drama and Best Actor.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced its nominations yesterday, citing William Petersen's work on CSI as well as the show itself, which was last season's number one-rated broadcast series.
CSI will compete for the best dramatic series award against FOX's 24, FX's Nip/Tuck, HBO's Six Feet Under and NBC's The West Wing. Last year's surprise winner, The Shield, did not receive a repeat nomination, though its star Michael Chiklis did.
Minutes after the nominations were announced, bookmakers began to release odds on the chances of the various nominees winning their categories. Yahoo! reported the odds on Petersen winning were at 6/1, with previous winner Kiefer Sutherland of 24 leading the Best Actor category at 2/1.
Petersen's fellow nominees also include Without a Trace's Anthony Lapaglia and The West Wing's highly acclaimed Martin Sheen.
As for the show itself, Yahoo! also reported 6/1 odds on its likelihood of winning Best Drama, ahead of long-shot Nip/Tuck but behind front-runners Six Feet Under and The West Wing, both previous winners.
