CSI Level One
I had to write a scene for my Intro to Theather class based off an article we were given. I got an article about a 9/11 museum that will be opening in 2012 and decieded to make it about Mac and Stella visting the opening of the museum.the style is in somewhat of a script form; i tried my best to make it that way:
Detectives Mac Taylor and Stella Bonasera are dressed in their police uniforms. They don't have to wear them all the time but today they are. The detectives along with many of New York's finest police officers and firefighters are in attendance to the opeing of the September 11th Museum.
There's a banner hanging when Mac and Stella walk in. Mac reads the banner mostly out loud to himself
Mac
To Those Who Sacrificed Their Lives
We Will Never Forget
Stella and Mac walk around the museum. There are many artifacts from that horrible day. They stop in front of a smashed fire truck
Stella
I remember seeing this truck the. For some reason this has always stuck in my mind the most
Mac keeps silent, the detectives walk past a wheel chair
Stella
Hey Mac look at this. The description says that this wheelchair belonged to a man named John Abruzzo and it took him with help six hours to get down the stairs of one of the towers before it fell. That must have taken a lot of stamina, adrenaline and hope to make it down those stairs.
Mac
When I was in Beirut we were getting bombed like it was raining out. Two of my men were injured and I carried them to safety. The sheer adrenaline that kept me going....
Mac falls silent again. He and Stella walk around a bit stopping to look at different artifacts and read and listen to the different accounts of survivor stories. They meet at a wall this is a list of all the people that lost their lives that day. Stella sees Mac looking at the wall, he looks at the name "Claire Conrad Taylor," and walks up behind him and reminices about the day:
Stella
I remember this day like it was yesterday. I remember I was at a crime scene with Danny at a bakery in the Bronx. All the sudden I look up and the police officer in the front comes in and says that the first tower was hit. Danny and I just looked at each other and couldn't believe it. Then the officer came back in, his face looked like he had been punched, and said that the other tower had been hit. I remember I wanted to run out of the bakery to get back to the lab to see if I could help, but I knew i couldn't just leave a crime scene. It was so hard not to just bolt out of there.
Silence for a few moments when Mac starts talking
Mac
All I can remember was thinking about Claire and how I was trying to get through to her. I tried walking Downtown but the streets were too crowded. When I hadn't heard from or about Claire I knew she was gone.
Stella puts her hand on Mac's shoulder. He contiunues
Mac
I threw away everything that reminded me of her. All her clothes are gone, all the pictures of us are in a picture box except for one of us in Central Park when we first moved to the city. The only thing that I could not get rid of was a beach balkl that she had blown up that summer, I still have it after all these years. Her breath is still inside.
Stella knows it's hard for Mac to talk about his wife and she gives him a little space. Mac's phone goes off, he answers
Mac
Taylor... yeah... where... ok we'll be there in a few.
He looks at the wall one more time, touches the name, and turns to Stella
Mac
That was Danny, he's at a crime scene with Lindsay at a pizza parlor in Time's Square. Apparently someone didn't like their pizza and shot up the place.
Stella gives a laugh and the two of them walk towards the exit.
Outside on the steps of the museum Mac turns around to look back. His face and his body are calm.
Stella
Hey you alright?
He looks back at Stella with a grin
Mac
Yeah I feel fine
The detectives walk to the car and leave to head to their crime scene
