'CSI: New York' Takes Cahill Back Home

After playing boyfriend to both Friends' Rachel and Sex and the City's Carrie, Eddie Cahill felt his role as Det. Don Flack on CSI: New York would finally bring him to more familiar territory.

Speaking to the Texas-based Times Record News, Cahill revealed that he stems from a long lineage of police officers. Both his great-grandfather and grandfather were policemen in the Bronx, and if it hadn't been for bad eyesight, his father would have been a cop as well. "And now I am playing a homicide detective," Cahill said. "I was a big Law & Order fan. I am a big fan of the true-crime stories. It's just a part of something I am fascinated with."

Eddie Cahill didn't follow the family tradition, but instead moved to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career. Thanks to CSI: New York, he'll now make regular trips back to his home city to film exterior scenes. Cahill felt that "to go back to New York under these circumstances is great. People congratulate you for being apart of something great. You can only appreciate those kinds of comments when they come from home."

During his next trip back home, Cahill may want to consider bringing along an extra autograph pen, as the success of CSI: NY is likely to propel him into stardom. But Cahill is trying hard to ignore that. "To be honest, I try not to think about [the success of the] CSI [franchise] that much because it makes me paranoid and crazy."
