'CSI: New York' Season Premiere Revealed

CSI Files

Captain
The season two premiere of CSI: New York, entitled "Summer in the City", will see big changes with the introduction of two new characters and a brand new lab.

According to CSI Files sources, the episode will take viewers to the fashionable side of New York, where glamour is no farther than a display window away. If you can make it there you can make it anywhere, and Weston Price has realized that dream. He is an ambitious designer and the owner of Weston Price Jewelers, manufacturers of elegant lingerie. The designer recently finished his latest fashion masterpiece: a diamond bra worth over 8 million dollars. Price designs a different model every year, and this year's promises to be the most glamorous, but also the most coveted; soon after the release of the diamond bra, Price is beaten and killed.

Stella and Danny are sent to the posh side of New York City to investigate the case, and soon find that contrary to their initial suspicions, Price's 8 million dollar bra is still in his possession. The CSIs ask themselves who would kill this man and leave 8 million dollars worth of diamonds left behind, but the answer to their question doesn't reveal itself easily. Further investigation reveals that Price's world was full of people with seemingly good intentions, who claim they tried to protect Price rather than hinder his success. But appearances are seldom trustworthy, and now Stella and Danny have the arduous task of finding the person in New York who walked away from 8 million dollars.

Meanwhile, a rape case forces Aiden Burn to reconsider an old verdict. 18 months ago a man named D.J. Pratt was tried for rape, but Regina Moore, a key witness, refused to testify due to fear, earning Pratt his freedom. In the back of her mind, Regina always knew he would rape someone else, but she never imagined that someone would be her. Too ashamed to call the cops, she approaches Aiden, but two days after the rape took place. The young CSI knows it will be next to impossible to find the evidence in Regina's body, or convict a man who has already been cleared by the courts. Aiden now has to build a case out of little evidence, and though the CSI has a hard time trying to remain unemotional, her determination to put this monster behind bars is fierce.

"Summer in the City" will also have the CSIs moving on to a new location. As was previously reported (news), the set of the television show will receive a make-over. The premiere will see the characters moving all their belongings to the new building, where they will have to go on an elevator ride in order to get to the labs. The new set is one of CSI creator Anthony Zuiker's attempts to brighten the show.

But the changes aren't exclusive to the set. Dr. Hawkes, who worked as a forensic coroner during season one, will be abandoning his autopsy room for the field, as was implied in the episode "What You See Is What You See;" Mac Taylor will be training Hawkes in his first case. And while the young M.E. will, for the first time, have to see beyond the autopsy table, a new medical examiner will take his place. Dr. Evan Akai is a young, handsome, and easy going doctor who has been hired to replace Dr. Hawkes. A little more serious than his predecessor, Dr. Akai's personal credo is simple and scientific: he never assumes anything.

The season premiere will also see the introduction of a new, regular character. Summer Hamilton, from the CSI division in Boise, Idaho, has been recommended by the higher-ups to join Mac's team. A blue-eyed, Midwestern blonde, Summer humorously describes herself as a blabbermouth who can seal evidence with the best of them. Mac's reluctance prompts Hamilton to prove herself to the older CSI, who quickly learns the woman is more than deserving to be in his team. But where Boise is benevolent and kind, New York is cold and daunting. Though a gifted CSI, Hamilton's greatest challenge will be accommodating herself to this unforgiving city that never sleeps.

Please note that the above plot details have not been confirmed by CBS, Alliance Atlantis or Bruckheimer Films, and until such time you should treat this information as you would any other rumour. The above information comes from early script drafts and the details of the episodes are liable to change before the episodes are shown.

"Summer in the City" is set to premiere late September.

Two new character, huh? So, that will be six people out in the field in New York, four people out in the field in Miami, and seven people out in the field in Vegas (if Sophia is kept). Ah, characters galore (can't decide if I mind about the new additions to New York or not... hmmm...)

Can't wait for the premiere! It's always good to see a different side to Aiden... it's a good reminder that the girl isn't one-dimensional.

Its not just the new character its all the changes

New Set

New Character - I mean Summer for gods sake

New location

They are changing the whole feel of the show - brightening it up they said.

I dare say some people will like it but I just loved the whole first season so Im not being to optimistic of the changes

I could be proved wrong but somehow I doubt it

New Character - I mean Summer for gods sake

Awww... don't diss the name Summer. That's my aunt's name! And, truthfully, she's exactly how they described this character, so I say good name choice!

Other than that, I'm an optimist, so I shall be walking into the new season with an unbiased point of view. I'll be hoping for the best, and if it doesn't measure up, then that's that and I don't like it. If the new feel is all okay and I don't mind the new characters (or hate them depending what the writer wants you to think), then its all good to me.

Don't like the name Summer (like, hi! type of girls?) but it's definitely better than Aiden. That names still gives me shivers.

And these from the same people who chose the beautiful Stella! Unbelievable.

YAY! I'm liking the sound of the new season. I didn't watch many episodes but now I think I'll definitely tune in. So they got six working CSIs now huh? COOL!

I like the current team with 6 now (4 CSI's, Flack and Hawkes), but just wait and see how those 2 new carachters fit in the show!

But will that Dr. Evan Akai be a regular as well? It's not in the article, but if Hawkes is going into the field, there must be a replacement, because you can't run a CSI show without a medical examiner.

I'm pretty sure he'd be a regular. You cannot have a CSI show without the M.E. in the opening credits.

I hope he's Asian. Aki is a Japanese name, but I'm not sure about Akai.

Three CSIs and not one Asian character? That's just wrong.

I've got mixed feelings about this.
First of all, I am dissapointed about the fact that they are renewing the sets. Is that really necessary? They brightened up the show a hell of a lot already, and I was completely satisfied at the end of the season! Dr. Hawkes in the field has it's positive and negative sides. He was my favourite ME of all three CSI's, so this replacement better be good. But a wish of me was also that he'd get more screentime, so that's defenitely a +. And Summer... we'll just have to see about that right. I don't mind some new people, but I think 4 CSI's is kind of enough. I was glad with just Mac, Stella, Danny and Aiden. Summer sounds like a nice character though, she might be hot. :p

Akai is red in japanese. Kind of. Aka is actually red, but when you are describing something it is akai. Yeah...

Archie (Archie Kao) on Vegas is Asian.
