'CSI' Moves to USA Network

'CSI' bound for USA

Cabler gets offnet rights to CBS series

"CSI" has found a new offnet home at USA Network.Beginning in December, cabler will have non-exclusive rights to the popular

CBS crime drama for seasons one through 10. In fall 2011, USA will have exclusive rights for seasons 11 and beyond.

Starting in September 2014, the entire "CSI" catalog will be exclusive to not only USA, but the entire NBC Universal portfolio.

"CSI" is distributed through CBS Television Distribution.

Spike TV airs offnet episodes of "CSI," and its deal expires in September 2014.

USA Network will reportedly pay approximately $500,000 million per episode, a healthy amount considering this is a second offnet cycle for many of the episodes.

"We're proud to add one of the most successful television series of the last 20 years to our programming slate," said Jane Blaney, USA's exec VP of program acquisitions and scheduling.

Net has a plentiful offnet lineup that includes "NCIS," "Law and Order: SVU," "Law and Order: Criminal Intent" and "House." Spinoff "NCIS: Los Angeles" is also set to make USA its syndie home. With a lineup of originals that continues to set ratings high, USA was No. 1 basic cable network in 2009 in the 18-49 demo, increasing 29% from 2008.

"Royal Pains" and "White Collar" both had successful launches last year, while "Burn Notice" drew 7.1 million per episodes, the second-highest basic show behind TNT's "The Closer."

I'm actually glad to hear this. I've been annoyed with Spike for always pre-empting my daily dose of CSI reruns for other crappy shows. I watch the NCIS & SVU reruns on USA all the time.

Yeah and Spike will cut out some scenes sometimes which annoys me too. This is good news.

Wait... I'm confused. (no surprise there right? lol) Seasons 11 and beyond will go to USA, but that's in repeats right? They'll still continue to air regularly on Thursdays on CBS, right?

Correct. They are talking about syndication rights. First run is still on CBS. Starting in 2014, all cable repeats will air on USA.

I'm glad to hear this. I like USA network. And, quite frankly, many of the ads on Spike are offensive to me, and I don't think I'm easily offended. (But the sex on a motorcycle thing is beyond any reasonable taste, isn't it ?)

i'm glad to hear this also, spike can get very adult and my parents get mad cuz i have a 10 year old brother
the mototcylce thing, yeah, i could't with you agree more

This is excellent news to me! I also get tired of the raunchy commercials on the "men's network".

I hope USA runs the show often, kind of like Spike *used* to do!

Well I can say, I'm not surprised about this move.
Spike lured in viewers back in 2006 when they began showing reruns of CSI. Now, they have a lot more programming that draws in a different kind of viewer if you know what I mean

I love USA Network. But CSI will compete with shows like Burn Notice, White Color and In Plain Sight.
