A/N: This is a new series that is a continuation of the story presented in CSI: Miami - Race Against Time. The timeframe is between seasons 3 and 4.

Episode 1 - Why We Fight

SPEEDLE (VO)
The following events occur a day
after the events in CSI: Miami -
Race Against Time.

FADE IN:

INT. DUQUESNE'S APARTMENT BUILDING - MORNING

SPEEDLE walks up the stairs and checks his watch to make
sure he's not waking up DUQUESNE.

SPEEDLE
(thinks aloud)
Ten-thirty.
(he looks at the door
to DUQUESNE's apartment)


CUT TO:

INT. DUQUESNE'S APARTMENT

DUQUESNE is sitting in her kitchen with a mug full of coffee
in her hand as she reads the Miami Sun which is on the table
in front of her when she hears a knock on the door.

DUQUESNE
(stands up and walks
over to the door)
Who is it?

SPEEDLE (VO)
(muffled because of
the door)
Cable.

DUQUESNE
(smiles as she opens
the door)
Hey, Tim. How did you sleep last
night?

SPEEDLE
Not real well, the hotel I'm
staying at has the lumpiest
mattresses you've ever layed on.
That's not why I'm here though.

DUQUESNE
Well, then, by all means, come in.
(she opens the door
wider and moves out of
the way to allow
SPEEDLE to come into
her apartment's living room)


SPEEDLE
(walks in and sits
down on the couch)
Thanks.

DUQUESNE
(closes the door
behind SPEEDLE)
Would you like anything to eat or
drink?

SPEEDLE
I'm fine, thanks.

DUQUESNE
Alright
(she grabs her mug of
coffee and sits down
on a love-seat across
from SPEEDLE)
So, what's up?

SPEEDLE
I owe you an explanation about
the whole me "dying" thing.

DUQUESNE
(nods)


SPEEDLE
I was working on a case in July
when apparently the evidence got
contaminated and I was supposedly
the last person to handle it.
Stetler instantly placed the
blame on me and told me he was
getting me a job in undercover in
Houston. He told me that my
mistake would put the lab in a
very bad position, possibly even
start an investigation into the
lab's integrity. Which is
something I didn't want to happen.

DUQUESNE
(sips her coffee)
Well, why didn't you just quit?

SPEEDLE
Hold on, I'm getting there. Well
Stetler said that if I quit then
I'd have to give a reason and
that'd also open the lab up for
investigation. The only option he
gave me was faking my death.

DUQUESNE
So. Now what are you gonna do?
You helped save me, don't you
need to get back to Houston?

SPEEDLE
I quit that job.

DUQUESNE
Why?

SPEEDLE
While we were looking for you I
expressed my regrets and H told
me that there will always be a
place for me here at home.

DUQUESNE
So you're joining CSI again?

SPEEDLE
After H and I take care of Stetler.

DUQUESNE smiles before she gets up and gives SPEEDLE a hug.

DUQUESNE
Welcome back.

CUT TO:

INT. STETLER'S OFFICE

TEXT
(appears on screen)
Meanwhile...
(fades)


STETLER is sitting in his chair awaiting CAINE's arrival.
He's looking through an old file on SPEEDLE which was
possibly going to be used if SPEEDLE decided to stay on CSI
instead of faking his death and going to Houston.

CAINE
(walks into STETLER's office)
Rick, you wanted to see me?

STETLER
Yes, sit.

CAINE
I prefer standing, thank you.

STETLER
What is this I'm hearing about
Speedle being back in Miami?

CAINE
Speedle is back in Miami, that's
correct. He wanted to help find
Calleigh.

STETLER
Do you realize what this could
possibly do to the lab? I don't
want the FBI swarming this place
should they figure out what's
going on. And besides there's no
place for him here. He's supposed
to be in Houston playing dead for
your CSIs.

CAINE
My CSIs have gone through enough
in the past year. They just found
out that one of their closest
friends didn't really die. I had
to tell Calleigh to go talk to a
professional about her depression.
Speedle's back in Miami and I'm
not forcing him back to Houston
anytime soon.

STETLER
Then I will.

CAINE
No you aren't because right now
this is out of your power.
Speedle isn't back at the crime
lab and you can't do anything
about it yet.

STETLER
Sometimes I honestly wonder why
we fight, Horatio.

CAINE
You're just trying to get back at
me because I got promoted to
lieutenant first. That's your
answer...
(he turns and walks to
the doorway)
that's why we fight.
(he leaves the room)


FADE TO:

FLYOVER OF MIAMI

TEXT
(appears on screen)
TO BE CONTINUED...
 
yay continuation i like it i hope stetler get's his @$$ kicked by all the guys ganging up on him including Horatio, Ryan, Eric, and Speed that would be sweet he'd be like help me mommy! please dont't hurt me lol i can picture it now!
 
Include Calleigh in that too, this next update shows that she doesn't need a gun to defend herself.

And yes, the ship is S/C, and a lot of it. There may also be some Eric/Natalia.

INT. DUQUESNE'S APARTMENT - DAY

DUQUESNE walks to the sliding glass door to her second floor
balcony and looks out onto the street after SPEEDLE excused
himself to the bathroom.

DUQUESNE
(to self)
It's a beautiful day outside.

SPEEDLE
(walks up behind her)
It's Miami, cloudy weather here
is considered bad weather. So,
what's changed since I left?

DUQUESNE
(looks from SPEEDLE to
the people passing out
on the sidewalk)
Come with me, we can walk and talk.

CUT TO:

INT. MIAMI-DADE CRIME LAB - HALLWAYS

CAINE is walking to his office when VALERA chases after him.

VALERA
Uh, sir?

CAINE
(turns around)
Yes, Maxine?

VALERA
I'm hearing a rumor that Tim's
still alive. Is this true?

CAINE
(thinks for a minute)
Yes...yes it is. The whole story
is quite complicated and right
now I have a lot of other things
to do. Why don't you talk to Eric.
He knows the story.

VALERA
Uh, he's going on vacation, sir.

CAINE
Alright, well, talk to Mr. Wolfe,
all of the CSIs know. I've got
some things to take care of.
(he turns and
continues on his way
to his office)


CUT TO:

EXT. DOWNTOWN MIAMI

DUQUESNE and SPEEDLE are walking down the street in step
with each other.

SPEEDLE
So what's changed since I left?

DUQUESNE
Well, the lab's been renovated.
We also gained a new lab tech
working DNA on cold cases.

SPEEDLE
Natalia Boa Vista. She was the
one who figured out that you were
missing.

DUQUESNE
(smiles)
Yes, that's the one. Anyways she
brought enough money to renovate
the lab, something that Stetler
was the first to jump at.

SPEEDLE
Of course. I wouldn't expect
otherwise.

An THIEF passes DUQUESNE and SPEEDLE before turning around
and following them.

DUQUESNE
Yelina left on a vacation to
Brazil with Ray Jr.

THIEF
(walks past DUQUESNE
before pulling out a
knife and pointing it
at her)
You. Money. Now.

DUQUESNE
(frowns as she makes a
reaches for her pocket)
Fine.

SPEEDLE doesn't move knowing that if he did anything
DUQUESNE could be the one to get hurt. About halfway through,
DUQUESNE stops reaching for her pocket and instead clenches
her hand into a fist before punching the THIEF in the
stomach causing him to drop the knife out of shock. She then
sidekicks the THIEF and continues to turn before pulling off
a reverse side kick which sends her opponent to the ground.

SPEEDLE
(jaw dropped)
Holy shi-

INSTANT CUT TO:

FLYOVER OF MIAMI

TEXT
(appears on screen)

I'm sorry about updating, I'm working on another project at the time and am suffering writer's block for this series. I'll update you as soon as I have something postable.
