'CSI: Miami' PC Game Announced

Ubisoft recently announced plans to develop a third CSI computer game, this time based on the spin-off series, CSI: Miami.

The game, which is currently untitled, will be developed by 369 Interactive with a view to a winter 2004/2005 release date, Gigex.com reported. Although the exact details remain under wraps, the Miami game will have a similar format to the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: Dark Motives offerings, with the player taking on the role of a CSI solving a series of cases.

Tony Van, who served as executive producer of the previous games and will continue in that role on the Miami version, said the new game will stand out from the crowd. "We will incorporate the same attention to detail that made the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation games so popular in the US and Europe alike. We look forward to taking everything that makes CSI: Miami unique as a series and infuse it into our game."

It is expected that all the regular CSI: Miami actors will provide voices for their characters, with the press release saying that fans will solve crimes "working with the stars of the show". All eight CSI regulars lent their voices to the previous two games.

The first CSI game launched in March 2003, with the sequel, Dark Motives set to be released this month. "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation has gone from television phenomenon to video game phenomenon, and CSI: Miami is poised to repeat that success," said Ken Ross, Vice President and General Manager of CBS Consumer Products.
