Alliance Atlantis, the production company behind CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and its spinoffs, has just released reports on its 2003 performance, which reveal that this past year was an even better year for CSI than last year.
In a detailed report available at PR Newswire, Michael MacMillan, the Chairman and CEO of Alliance Atlantis called the CSI franchise the "cornerstone" of Alliance Atlantis's Entertainment division. "We will continue to focus on maximizing its value," MacMillan said of network television's top show and its spinoffs.
CSI: New York won't premiere until the fall, but already it proving quite lucrative for Alliance Atlantis. The company has already sold international liscense agreements for the show to air in Australia (on Channel 9), France (TF1), Germany (VOX), Spain (Telecinco) and the U.K. (Channel Five) <A class="link" HREF=http://www.csifiles.com/news/220504_01.shtml">(story)</a>. CSI: New York was previewed in the May 17th CSI: Miami episode <A class="link" HREF=http://www.csifiles.com/episodes/miami/season2/mia_nyc_nonstop.shtml">"MIA/NYC--NonStop"</a>, which drew 23 million viewers.
In 2003, the CSI franchise pulled in $131.8 million, of which $45.1 million was pure profit. This showed a marked improvement from 2002, when CSI earned $73.2 million, of which 27.1 million was profit. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation finished the 2003 year as the number one show on network television.
