Will CSI: Crime Scene Investigation finally win an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series this year? The show's fate could lie in the hands of a domanatrix, a stand-up comic and a porn director, just some of the characters featured in CSI's official Emmy submissions.
Each television show nominated in the category of Outstanding Drama Series must select eight episodes to be sent to members of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (ATAS) starting Monday, August 11. The voters must view these tapes (and sign a document to prove they have done so) before registering their pick for best drama.
Emmy expert Tom O'Neil published details of all the submitted episodes at his web site, GoldDerby.com. CSI's 'big eight', which are split into four tapes, are as follows:
[*]Tape A: "The Execution of Catherine Willows" / "Last Laugh" [*]Tape B: "Fight Night" / "Snuff"[*]Tape C: "Random Acts of Violence" / "Lady Heather's Box"[*]Tape D: "The Accsued Is Entitled" / "Play With Fire"[/list]
These video tapes will be mailed randomly to ATAS members so that each voter receives two CSI tapes (ie: four episodes). Memebers will also be sent two tapes from the other drama series nominees, The West Wing, 24, The Sopranos and Six Feet Under.
In addition to the episodes submitted on behalf of a series as a whole, each nominated actor chooses one episode (in the case of a lead role) or two (in the case of a supporting player) to send to voters. Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows), the only CSI actor nominated for an Emmy this year, has selected "Lady Heather's Box" as her submission in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
All Emmy ballots must be returned by September 5, and the awards will be presented on September 21. GoldDerby.com has the complete lists of episodes submitted by the Emmy-nominated television series and actors.
