----------Chapter 1--------------------
Sara sighed heavily as she shut the door from the garage behind her. She put her shoes in the closet and walked into the kitchen as she had every day for what seemed like forever, and was defiantly the best time of her life. Depositing her keys and purse on the counter she called out,
“Gil? Where are you?” Her eyebrows reached for each other in her confusion. Normally Grissom met her at the door unless he was cooking dinner which he obviously wasn’t. She walked down the hallway into the bedroom. “Gil?”
By the light of the orange sunset that peaked through the closed blinds on the windows she saw he whom she sought. She smiled at how young he looked when he was asleep. A sweet hint of a smile adorned his features which looked even more boyish than normal. She leaned against the doorframe studying him with an enthusiasm that she had once reserved for her work. Suddenly a loud BUZZZZ came from the kitchen, making her jump and her hand go to her right hip. He stirred and mumbled something about a roach before rolling over and sitting on the edge of the bed. He rubbed his face but then leapt up when the buzzer went off again.
“Oh Sara!” he said, surprised to see her in the doorway. “I’m sorry, how long have you been here? I need to go get the lasagna before it burns, I thought you wouldn’t be home till later.” He babbled all at once. Sara’s smile grew even larger than it had been before.
“I just got home; Greg’s doing the paperwork for me. He thinks I’m going shopping with Catherine. I’m still continually amazed with her.” she said following Grissom into the kitchen. Sitting down at the small table, Sara enjoyed the view as he took the lasagna out of the oven. “Smells good.”
“It’s my mother’s prize-winning recipe.” he said proudly. “How did your case go?”
“It turned out to be suicide. Her husband of 8 years left her.” Sara sighed heavily, all traces of her smile vanishing. She whispered, “8 years and he just picked up and left.”
The pain in Grissom’s face became twice that of Sara’s. “Honey, you know I would never, could never, do that to you don’t you?” He bent down to her level. “Look at me Sara. I love you. Never forget that.”
A tear fell from Sara’s eye and trickled down her cheek. “I love you too.” He pecked her on the cheek and studied her brown eyes. Satisfied she was alright for the time being he got up to return to his pasta but suddenly found blur of brunette hair lunging at him and kissing him fiercely. As the kiss deepened she brought her hand to cup his cheek. He winced and she quickly drew back.
“Sorry, I forgot. I didn’t hurt you did I?” she said worriedly. “I didn’t make it bleed?” The small cut she had given him the day before was little more than anything he had given himself while shaving but Sara had been almost terrified he would be mad it happened. Grissom smiled at her.
“It’s all right Sara. I…” but whatever he had been going to say was interrupted by a loud crash from the bedroom.

Be gentle, first non-ficlet. Sorry about grammar/spelling, I know they're probably there. More where this came from, just say the word (which is 'marshmallow' by the way). And before anyone asks, loose threads will be resolved later *pokes chatty talk involving Catherine*
