Captain
CBS announced today it will be airing a special repeat of CSI: New York's "Outside Man" tomorrow at 10:00pm to make up for cutting short the episode's original airing.
"Outside Man," in which Danny and Aiden are assigned to a multiple homicide in a restaurant while Mac and Stella investigate the death of a man of whom at first only his leg is found, originally aired last night on CBS. However, viewers on the American East Coast were unpleasantly surprised when CBS cut into the final minutes of the show for a special news bulletin on the death of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat - even though in most markets, a regular local newscast was scheduled to follow directly after CSI: New York.
Many of the fans who were disappointed to have missed the all-important final minutes of "Outside Man" complained to CBS's programming department, and a short while ago CBS sent an email to these fans informing them of the decision to repeat "Outside Man." The show will be repeated tomorrow at 10:00pm Eastern Time (9pm Central, 8pm Mountain, 10:00pm Pacific) in the timeslot where CBS had originally programmed a repeat of the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation episode "XX.".
Speaking to CBSNews.com, CBS said that "[an] overly aggressive CBS News producer jumped the gun with a report that should have been offered to local stations for their late news. We sincerely regret the error."
Until two weeks ago, the Friday 10:00pm timeslot was still the home of Dr. Vegas, the new drama show in which Rob Lowe starred as the in-house doctor of a high-end Las Vegas casino. But that show failed to attract as CBS had hoped for, and earlier this month the network decided to put it "on hiatus" during the November sweeps, replacing it with repeats of Without A Trace, CSI, CSI: Miami and Cold Case (story).

In addition to "Outside Man" and tonight's regularly-scheduled broadcast of CSI's "Formalities", fans will get two more opportunities this week to get their CSI fix. First up, Entertainment Tonight will be airing a segment this evening on Matthew W. Mungle, the award-winning makeup effects artist who designs the corpses and body parts for CSI. Local airtimes for ET can be found on this page.
And them tomorrow, cable network CNBC will deal with the CSI phenomenon in Dennis Miller's talk show, airing at 9:00pm Eastern Time, with a repeat at midnight. CSI executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer as well as CSI showrunners Ann Donahue, Anthony Zuiker and Carol Mendelsohn will all appear on the show, in addition to comedian Dana Carvey.
