CBS Launches 'New York' Website

CSI Files

Captain
CBS last week finally launched the complete CSI: New York website.

The website, which previously only included brief episode synopsizes, promo videos, and basic character descriptions, has been updated with a new look and full features. Complete character biographies are now available to the public, as well as biographical information and feature credits of the show's stars. Fans will also be able to learn more about forensic science by visiting the CSI Handbook section, which includes a comprehensive glossary of medical terms, evidence, tools, and procedures.

Unlike its sister sites, CSI and CSI: Miami, the CSI: New York's character biographies section does not include the characters' birthdates. But the site has revealed important details about the characters' personal lives. Fans of the show may be surprised to learn bold Detective Stella Bonasera is an orphan who grew up in the foster care system and learned everything she knows about her Greek heritage from books. Entertainment Weekly had previously revealed Stella is haunted by the unresolved murder of her father, who she found dead when she was a child.

The website has also revealed socially awkward and Harlem bred Dr. Sheldon Hawkes is a gifted child who graduated from college by the age of 18, and was a board-licensed surgeon by the age of 24. Brash Detective Don Flack is a Yonkers native who comes from a long line of police officers. The site also describes Aiden Burn as, "artistically gifted and skilled in Anthropology," a talent we saw her apply to a missing persons case in the episode "American Dreamers". Growing up under the mob's surveillance, Danny Messer was personally selected by Mac Taylor to join his team, "an honor and responsibility Danny attempts to live up to every day." And finally, ex-Marine turned CSI Mac Taylor is described as, "one of the world's foremost Criminalists." As fans are already aware of, Mac lost his wife to the World Trade Center attacks of 9/11.

Episode synopsizes and promo videos, as well as video interviews of the actors, are also available at the site. To take advantage of all the new features, visit the official CSI: New York website.
