Caruso And Rodriguez, 'Pirated' Behind The Scenes

CSI Files

Captain
Actors David Caruso (Horatio Caine) and Adam Rodriguez (Eric Delko) were on hand to tell Entertainment Tonight presenter Carlos Ponce amongst other things how to walk like a CSI and why the show needed a Miami native.

Ponce was most surprised to find himself issued with ear-plugs as he entered the set though – but perhaps somewhat relieved as gunshots ricocheted around the set and a rocket sped towards a police car, exploding and lifting the vehicle clean off the ground. "We're trying to get these pirates who've stolen a boat," said Rodriguez by way of explanation. "They attack us with this rocket launcher; we start firing, we get a couple of them, one of the guys gets away... we've got SWAT here, they're firing their guns..."

Rodriguez was also happy to share insights on how the CSIs manage to pull off the 'CSI walk'. "Once you've got all the equipment on your waist, there's a way you end up walking," he said. "See, when you don't have your gun, you can just throw your holster at them. Or the badge," joked Rodriguez, as Ponce attempted to pull his gun and ended up throwing half the contents of his holster to the ground.

David Caruso was also around to discuss the concept of modern-day pirates. "Yes, it's pretty real," he said, in response to the question of whether such people existed. "There's a group of people that have this very extreme agenda. There's kind of a – for lack of a better term – white supremacist organisation that funds themselves by pirating ships here in the Caribbean."

He also discussed why he thought it was good for him to be an actual resident of Miami. "I sometimes can lend a little flavour because I am a resident, and sometimes I can bring some kind of indigenous element to it," he said. When asked why they picked him, he joked "well, I had my own bottles of sunblock, so they saved a fortune..."
