CSI Files
Captain
Carmine Giovinazzo, who appeared in "Revenge Is Best Served Cold", has scored a lead role in CSI: New York.
Giovinazzo will play a crime scene investigator, according to the Hollywood Reporter, although no other character details are currently available. Vanessa Ferlito, who was cast earlier this month (story), is also set to star as a member of the New York forensics team.
A native New Yorker (he was born on Staten Island), Giovinazzo has appeared in films such as For Love of the Game, The Learning Curve and Black Hawk Down and starred in the MTV series Shasta McNasty. According to the Internet Movie Database, he originally wanted to be a professional baseball player but turned to acting after a back injury.
When CSI: New York was announced back in January, it was reported that the series would only focus on two characters with a supporting cast of recurring players (story). After the casting of Giovinazzo and Ferlito and the news that Academy Award-nominated actor Gary Sinise remains in discussions to take the lead role, this original intention may have been modified somewhat.
Created by Anthony Zuiker, Ann Donahue and Carol Mendelsohn, CSI: New York will be introduced to viewers in one of the final episodes of CSI: Miami's second season.
