CSI Files
Captain
Days of Our Lives star Sarah Buxton is all woman, but that didn't stop her from signing up to play a transsexual in last night's episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
"My voice is low and I have strong features," Buxton told TV Guide's Daniel R. Coleridge. "It's funny, because this summer I got very close to getting a role as a transsexual in a movie. I guess I'm different looking. I never wanted to play boring girlfriend roles anyway."
Buxton portrayed Wendy Jones, the transgendered woman found murdered by the side of the road in the 100th episode special, entitled "Ch-Ch-Changes". Although she was killed in the first few minutes, the episode was very much the story of Wendy Jones and her struggle to establish her own identity. The actress was no stranger to CSI, having previously played Lana in last season's "Eleven Angry Jurors".
The "Ch-Ch-Changes" part came her way when Buxton was starring in a play produced by Jorja Fox (Sara Sidle) and she was spotted by one of CSI's directors. "He asked Jorja if I'd be offended if I were asked to play this part. She told him no, since it's an awesome role. And he wanted a real woman, since it's important to the plot that the victim be believable as a girl from the beginning. So I guess I'm supposed to be a successful surgery case!"
