CSI producer Josh Berman's new television series has been renamed [/i]The Gate.[/i]
Formerly known as Deviant Behavior, The Gate was picked up by FOX earlier this month after the busy pilot season came to a halt. Berman, who wrote the recent episode of CSI "Iced", was recently linked to FOX in a four year deal that will allow him to develop television shows for the studio.
The Gate revolves around the life of Graham Hale, a San Francisco detective working for the city's Deviant Crime Unit. After being away from work for a year to deal with the death of his partner, Hale comes back to confront San Francisco's most aberrant criminals and meet detective Ava Lyford (formerly Rachel Lyford), his new partner. Together, they'll investigate the city's most bizarre crimes while they deal with inner demons of their own. The Gate stars Johnny Messner, Marguerite Moreau, and Chi McBride.
While Berman will undoubtedly be busy with the new series, the producer's contract with CSI will continue through the show's 7th season. In a recent CSI Files interview, he revealed, "I will remain on CSI (happily) for the next two seasons. I love my job and I love working for Carol Mendelsohn (my boss). CSI continues to be exciting and I'm happy to keep writing for these wonderful characters."
The Gate will air Friday nights at 9pm on Fox during this upcoming television season. For more information on the show, visit The Futon Critic.
