CSI: New York's third outing continued to build on the trend set by its two predecessors of winning the 10:00pm slot's top rating -- 16.5 million viewers, compared to runner-up NBC's Law & Order, which trailed with 12.3 million viewers.
According to figures from the , "American Dreamers" scored a 6.0/16 rating, placing it first in its timeslot against NBC's Law & Order (4.3/11) and ABC's Wife Swap (4.2/11). These ratings mean that out of all the households in America, 6% were tuned in to CSI: New York last night, rising to 16% when factoring only in those households actually watching TV at 10:00pm. Compared with last week, New York did lose 15% of viewers, however.
"American Dreamers" was the most-watched show of the hour, but lost out to ABC's "Lost" in the 8:00pm slot for most watched show. That show netted an audience of 16.6 million, 100,000 more viewers than those for CSI: New York. But helped by a good 13.8 million viewers for the 9:00pm CSI: Miami rerun, CBS did win the overall night. It garnered the highest number of overall viewers and had the highest overall ratings of the night (8.8/14), although it came second to ABC in the all-important Adults 18-49 demographic (4.2/11 against ABC's 4.7/13).
The Floridian CSI: Miami didn't let the side down either- "Under the Influence" of its audience it won top program for CBS on Monday night, scoring 7.5/19 in the Adults 18-49 demographic, and winning over 20.3 million viewers. Not only was it up on the previous week but also on the previous year.
Thursday was also a veritable victory for CBS, winning every hour of primetime. Its 10:00pm show Without A Trace beat NBC's ER for the second time in a row... but it was of course CSI: Crime Scene Investigation that led the way for the night's most watched programme, with a rating of 17.1/26 and 27.8 million viewers. Although the episode itself wasn't "Down the Drain" metaphorically speaking, it was slightly down on the premiere two weeks ago.
