CSI Level Two
Sara was falling apart. She'd been trying to sleep for hours, but it was hopeless. The nightmares filled with the ghosts of her past kept trapping her, and the only way to avoid them was not closing her eyes. This had been why she'd prsctically lived at the lab since she'd started all those years ago. She felt safe there, like nohting could harm her. She knew it wasn't just the lab that made her feel safe, though. It was Grissom. He'd always been there for her, even in her worst hours, and she wasn't sure if she'd ever be able to repay him for that. Suddenly, there was a knovk at the door.
"Hmm, who could that be?" she wondered silently as she walked across the room. "Oh, hey, Griss. Come on in." She tried to hide her temultuous emotions from him as he stepped inside, but he instantly gave her a concerned glance.
"Sara? What's wrong?" he asked, leading her to the couch.
"I've gotta stop running," she replied as they sat down.
He put his arms around her, sensing she needed the contact. "Running from what?" he asked, his voice barely audible.
She snuggled closer to him. "From my past."
He nodded knowingly. "Ah."
Tears threatened to spill from her eyes suddenly. "Gil, I can't face it alone."
He held her to him. "Shh, you won't have to, Sara. I'm right here."
She rested her head on his chest, finally letting the tears fall. Gil stil held her close, lightly kissing them away as they fell.
"Shh," he whispered. "You'll never be alone again. I'm right here."

Sara's whole body was wracked with sobs. She tried desperately to stop them, but to no avail. Gil didn't speak, knowing Sara would when she had the strength. It killed him to see her this way. He'd give anything to take away all her painful mrmories. "Shh, it's all right now, Sara," he soothed after a few minutes. "You're not alone."
Sara clutched at him, never wanting to let go. The tears were still falling uncontrollably.
"Shh, shh," he whispered soothingly. "I'm right here." After a few minutes, he realized she'd cried herself to sleep, still clutching at his shirt. He gently scooped her up and carried her to her bedroom. When he got there, he laid her down and tucked her in before settling onto the bed beside her, pulling her close again.

Sara was sleeping peacefully for the first time in ages. She finally felt safe again. She'd honestly forgotten how that felt till Grissom showed her the way. She realized that as long as he was close, she'd never have to be afraid again. She always found solace in him. She curled up, resting her head on his chest.
