CSI Files
Captain
<font color=yellow>Aisha Tyler</font>, the actress behind DNA analyst and newcomer Mia Dickerson, spoke yesterday about how lucky she felt she was to have landed the CSI gig.
"Actually, in my audition I had to say oxycodone and diazepam... and I think 50 percent of the reason I got the job was because I said those things right!" joked Tyler. Mia Dickerson is set to be a DNA analyst who will replace <font color=yellow>Reiko Aylesworth's</font> Chandra Moore.
"She's really smart, kinda geeky," Tyler said of her character. "I was a little bit of a science geek in high school - originally I wanted to be an engineer [...] so I'm really into the science stuff and I want to make it look real." But greatest challenge wasn't the tech-talk or pulling off the science: "I went through 30-40 pairs of gloves before I got it right," she laughed. "They'd be rolling and I was like, 'Don't roll! Don't roll! I can't get them on!'"
Tyler was recently a recurring character on NBC's Friends as the love interest for Ross, Charlie Wheeler. She cited an even more recent appearance on surgical drama Nip/Tuck - "really edgy" - as inspiring her move from a comedy background to drama. Tyler will make her debut on October 14th in the episode <A class="link" HREF=http://www.csifiles.com/episodes/csi/season5/harvest.shtml>"Harvest"</a> and will appear for at least three episodes.
