I don't remember anything about the niece either except for that little allusion to her in Death Pool 100. I did have a theory that Ryan is the younger brother, though...and a twelve year old niece would lend credence to that.

I'm still working on coloring, but you're right about being able to ask for help if I need it. We've got quite the lot of talented artists here, and they're all so friendly and helpful :D If I get stuck, I definitely know where to go!
