Actually, CBS cut Medium's order to only 13 episodes this season. The scuttlebutt is The Defenders will move from Wednesday to Friday at 8:00 in January, and Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior will air out of the mothership on Wednesday just like NCIS/NCIS LA on Tuesday.

I think the main problem with NY's ratings this year is its horrible lead-in. Medium is sucking wind right now, and many viewers are getting invested in those two-hour Datelines at 8:00 and not changing the channel to NY at 9:00. I bet if they put NCIS or The Mentalist repeats, or hell even 48...

Both could be recurring. The guy that CBS brought over as a new showrunner from Numb3rs, Don McGill, did the same with that cast. Besides Rob Morrow, David Kromholtz, and Alimi Ballard, the rest of the cast rotated from episode to episode. It helped control costs immensely.
