I've heard about this but haven't seen it around. What sort of day/time is it on? (Don't know where you are, but i'm in the UK, so it might be different times and such).

As a lesbian, I can honestly say I couldn't care less if CSI has LGBT characters or not. It's a crime/forensics show - why should they have to go out of their way to add a variety of characters just to satisfy the beliefs/views/etc of viewers? If they incorporated characters for everything...

But remember a lot of people don't think like that. With something like CSI, what they see *could* be true, as most of it is very realistic, even if it's not possible to do. So it's not really a suprise that people are expecting real life to be like CSI.

I'd be more concerned about how CSI is affecting the minds of judges and jurors. In actual criminal investigations some officials and members of the jury who have watched the show are actually expecting investigators to come out with some of the bizarre, unrealistically-obtained evidence that...

That sounds like a pretty good idea to me :)

As oppose to have a thread for forensic science questions, would it not be better to have a separate topic for each new question? That way the posts can focus on the question, it would be easier to browse, and the questions may lead onto further discussion on whatever topic the question was...

Re: Forensic Questions It could take all day answering that one. There are endless different fields in forensics science (which I assume is what you mean). Here's a page with info on some of the more common branches of forensics. Remember it's just a small proportion though. Hope that helps!

I think I just randomly stumbled across it on TV. I know it was a CSI LV episode I saw first. After one episode, I was hooked!

Welcome! I wish you luck in your studies towards forensic science. This is the best place to be if you want to just chat forensics, ask questions, and learn a few things :)

I'm not sure I agree with that. I'd say if you're studying forensic science at university, you're capable of knowing it's not a game. I see where you're coming from though. I suppose there is always a risk of that.

I've seen some of the 'crime scene houses' in the universities over here (well, what uni's actually have them), and I think they're great. What a great idea to teach students crime scene science in a more hands-on approach. It'll beat those dull classes sat at a desk!
